I was so shocked I had to leave. I should have been shocked at the fact that I was served and ate CHICKEN for the first time in my life because the waiter made a mistake in our order. But instead the torrent of justifications and insistence that it was my own fault - in the restaurant in front of other customers horrified me. There are so many great curry restaurants in this part of Birmingham you do not need to go through this kind of arrogance... I was invited here by a friend who loved it and had been a number of times. We were happy with our starters. It lived up to the expectations. I must add I am vegetarian and ALWAYS order from the veggie choices, and my friend opted to do the same so we could share. As I order I point to the dish on the menu in case of any mispronunciations. I ordered one of my favourites - Baingan Bharta, an aubergine curry, and a paneer curry. As I ate I tasted something with a different texture. I am well into my adult life and on religious grounds do not eat meat. I asked my friend to check the dish and they had added chicken pieces to the aubergine. The waiter took the dish away and then said I should have 'made it clear what I wanted' As I went I explain how I had ordered it - clearly - I was told 'ok you state your case and then I will state my argument' REALLY? I explained it's a dish I have regularly in Indian restaurants, and pointed at it on the menu as I ordered. I was told 'Well - firstly, I look at the customers' face when taking an order, and secondly there is a dish that sounds similar to this one that has chicken in it (literally one vowel difference and I had never heard of it)...and we have had this problem before' He offered to take the dish off the bill - we hadn't eaten it after the first bite! But refused to acknowledge any fault and insisted I should have been clearer .....the fact that I was served and ate meat for the first time in my life down to his mistake did not seem to be the issue anymore
For the first time in my life I can honestly say I have had the worst customer service ever. There are so many great curry restaurants in this part of Birmingham you do not need to go through this kind of...
Read moreWe came here after a disastrous attempt at dinner at a different restaurant and this place turned our whole night around. Funnily enough it was recommended by a server at the previous restaurant and I can see why. The service was outstanding. The food was to die for. We have the mixed starters for two and the fish chicken lamb and onion bahjis were amazing. The staff were very attentive, we were never out of drinks. The mains were delicious and perfect portions we have peshwari naan that was gorgeous, mango sea bass that was amazing. Lemon fried rice that perfectly complimented the lamb bolti and many more delicious things. Would absolutely recommend. The atmosphere was perfect. Wasn’t too hot or too cold. Music was at a perfect volume and the place was stunning inside. It has been a long time since me and my family have enjoyed a meal this much. The warm hand wipes at the end with some chocolate orange pieces were the perfect finish after such a...
Read moreCame here for family b'day with 15 people all sat together. Service was very attentive, good range of drinks and non alcoholic Cobra was great.
Had the mixed tandoori kebab for starter which was yummy. For main had the tandoori platter with a kheema naan. Platter served on a sizzler plate with loads of onions which soaked up the flavours of the dish. Shish, chicken and tikka chicken were delicious, lamb was a bit tough but tasty. The kheema didn't have much meat in it but the bread was lovely. Also tried someone's peshwari naan and that was really tasty. Poppadoms were good and they even got us some lime pickle on request which is my favourite topping for them. Meal was really good value and portions were good. Everyone was full by the end. Hot lemon clothes were provided at the end to clean up and orange chocolates with the bill which were...
