We went to the tyburn house recently for what was meant to be a very special Christmas meal together with my parents as we are unable to see them over Christmas. My mom rang the week before to book but was told that you didn't need to book even though my mom explained that it was for the festive menu. When we arrived I went to the bar to place our food order only to be told that we had to book for the festive menu. I explained that my mom had rang the week before and was told that you don't need to book. The staff member apologised and said there was nothing she could do, she also questioned me by asking if my mom had rang the correct pub as all her staff are aware that a booking is required and none of the staff would say that you are not required to book. I went back to explain to my parents and the staff member came to apologise further, my mom showed her the phone call to prove that she had made the call and made it clear that it was for the festive menu. Again she said there was nothing she could do. After a long discussion we decided to have a meal from the other menu as it was inconvenient to go elsewhere due to limited time. We did have a nice meal and given our drinks free as a goodwill gesture but this experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting as it was meant to be a special Christmas meal which was ruined by the incompetence of the member of staff who answered the phone. This ruined what was meant to be a celebratory occasion for Christmas with my parents. I do hope a lesson has been learned to save anyone else suffering the same disappointment.
