Zengh - Fine Dining Indian Restaurant and Takeaway Sutton Coldfield — Restaurant in Birmingham

Kinda heartbreaking having to write this to be honest. I used to live round this area and used to order and visit frequently until i left the area. The manager? was very polite and lovely and that's what made me spread the word to my friends and what influenced my choice to go their yesterday. Here's where it hurts me to say this but... The minute we went it it was slightly awkward and i recognised the manager? immediately. We asked for a larger table but were told they were reserved. We sat squished up on a smaller table. The waiter taking our order was quite cocky and rude. Whilst waiting for our food the waiter and manager? and another member of staff were talking loudly behind the bar area next to us in a different language and laughing, a member of our group who spoke the same language mentioned to us that they were talking about us and being rude about weight etc (one of us had Lymphedema and had badly swollen legs). We received our food and it was very bland, it looked as if had been watered down and had no flavour whatsoever, felt like i was eating rubber. Paid the bill and left as soon as possible. Having a small family get together staying at the Ramada hotel,we decided to go out for a meal.As it was friday evening every place was full even the local fish and chip shop had people in a long queue. Hoping to find a vacancy we went into the Zengh indian resturaunt on Birmingham Road. What a reception, the waiter was absolutly charming and although the had a table pre booked offered us the table as long as we could vacate it by an agreed time.We gladly accepted and following the meal were so pleased we did. Although I am not a great fan of indian cuisine we were all totally delighted with our meal. The individual flavours and aromas were something to desire, the service and the feelling you belonged and were there regular customers really impressed all of us.If I had this jewel of the East near where I live I like other regular customers sitting on the next table would have a permant booking. I would see Zengh driving past all the time and I was quite curious to experience how the restaurant was. Having seen the 5 star reviews I decided to take my partner for his birthday. The atmosphere of the restaurant is certainly Zengh. The service was one of the best I’ve ever received. Having waited slightly over the normal wait time, it was certainly worth it! The food was delicious; this is coming from a person who’s very picky! I couldn’t fault anything. I have quite a sweet tooth after a meal. Sadly they don’t have a dessert menu, however they continued to kindly accommodate by giving me and my partner a complimentary ice cream which just topped off the night. Will definitely be visiting...
