Why am I being asked to complete my own order if I've gone out for a sit down meal with the family? It's almost like calling at McDonald's but much less convenient. It took us over 20 minutes just to order food after 3 attempts due to poor internet connection in the store (on all phones in the group). If you insist on making customers order online (which I assume will be to save on staffing costs but to be honest, just seems lazy), then at least provide a decent internet connection. There is wifi available but it's less than ideal. Seriously, if I wanted to order my own food online I'd stay at home and save on fuel. The waitress then came over to confirm the oder we just put in online ourselves!... why could that waitress not have just taken our order (the traditional way which doesn't rely on an iffy wifi signal)? Also, with having customers put in their own order, it was card only payment. Some people like the freedom to pay in cash and I believe customers should have the right to choose. Another lazy corner cut it seemed. And yet, despite paying customers doing everything themselves (except actually going in the back and cooking the food): putting the effort into completing their own orders (and it is an effort); fetching their own cutlery after asking where it is because you don't speak to staff after being sat down; fetching condiments and drinks (if it's refill, so fair enough on that front), it was actually still relatively expensive.
I will stress however that all of the staff were very polite during the rare interactions they had with customers and the food was fine - not the best pizza I've ever eaten and the stuffed crust should be labeled partially filled crust if we're being straight, but it was decent enough and the kids enjoyed it.
This review comes after 2 visits to the "restaurant" by the way - There wouldn't have been a second after the first experience but it was a child's birthday choice which had been promised some months prior so we knew what to expect regards ordering etc. But on both occasions there was a sign on the drinks machine stating that the ice was out of order, (this was a few weeks apart).
I heard other customers verbally complaining about the ordering method and lack of service to staff, but I get the feeling they'll be listening to a lot of complaints on that front and I'm aware it's not their fault, so I think this is the most appropriate place for my opinions.
I do try to leave good reviews where I can because I think it's easy to be negative and more important to praise effort and good service to businesses and staff with the right attitude. But the traditional theme of going out to eat seems to have been lost here through corner cutting and scrimping on service while charging the same price to customers. It kinda feels like customers are being mugged off...
Read morePretty poor experience from start to finish really. As we entered we was told about the several items unavailable to order. Not just popular things that sell out but also basics like mayonnaise that a huge company like PH should have gallons off.
Our salad that arrived before mains was delivered without the vinaigrette’s or thousand island dressing we ordered so 1st of several times we had to try find a waitress to help us...took a few minutes, normally I’d have got up and found a waitress but social distancing in mind I was aware walking around wasn’t recommended.
Drinks came now, 15 minutes after we ordered and 5 minutes after starting our salads.
Mains came now, 20 minutes after we ordered and 5 minutes after our salad had arrived so barely enough time to eat the salad. Our mains included a pizza we hadn’t ordered (or intended too) but as you can only order via an app we assumed the mistake was ours but the waitress was zero help.
By now 40 minutes in our table was crammed full of used items like empty pizza slates, salad bowls and numerous pots for dips and empty bottles....we had stacked them neatly to make more room and try get some space to eat but anyone who walked by was oblivious...we was a table of 4 and 1 toddler in a high chair who is constantly trying to grab anything she shouldn’t have.
It took me 20 minutes to get anyone’s to come clear away. After then waiting an additional 15 minutes with no sign of dessert, I had to flag down another waitress to see where our dessert was. In the end dessert came and hour after we finished our mains. If this wasn’t on a night where it was the government backed eat out to help out this would have costs £110. 'oh the order has been mixed up, will you be ok with this or shall i get the right ones which will take 5 mins?' So since he said 5 mins, i said get me the correct order...hour later and we're still waiting. I called up another waiter named Rhian and she went to check and said will be with you within couple of minutes...still waited.. 30 mins later and still waiting. Me and my friend got so fed up and decided we had enough and went to leave the restaurant, only being stopped by the waiter Rhian . which then i said. We're leaving. we've waited 2 HOURS in this place. Rhian who was very rude said 'no you can't leave without paying for your drinks.Its ONLY £5.90... WHAT?? our drinks were on the table untouched and she made us pay £5.90 for drinks we didn't even drink!. I had to ask for her and the waiter who served us a few times to give us their names as i wanted to complain to their head office straight after. She wouldn't give me their number so i went online and got it and called them up straight away to complain about the service and the lack of customer service skills their waiters have. Their head office is now looking into this... Please AVOID this restaurant. Their staff really need customer service and complaint handling training!!
