As someone who has dined at the Bakers Arms on many occasions over the last three years, it is incredibly disheartening to see the multitude of fake reviews I can see have recently been left (all within 1hr of each other from one friendship group - none of which who have dined at the bakers arms recently - or at all for that matter.....). The food here is always fresh and delicious, and their 5* EHO rating would say otherwise to any claims of the building being unkept or 'dirty' as one disgruntled ex-employee (and their friends) seems to have claimed. The award winning pub has used fresh, local suppliers in and around the Blaby district since it opened, and the fact that the first reviewers' only claim of 'unfresh' ingredients being used is 'spread' instead of butter makes this all seem like it has been posted with an ulterior motive. It seems to me that the previous reviewer has been let go for not meeting the high standards being set by this amazing village pub, and I sincerely hope anyone reading these reviews can see past their angry rambles of lies. I can guarantee anyone who has actually dined or visited this lovely pub (who does not have ulterior motives like this ex-employee and their friends) will be able to see and taste the fresh, clean and delicious food being served 7 days a week.
Sincerely, Someone who has actually visited this pub and eaten their food.
(P.S the false reviews claiming the bakers arms to be a 'cafe' shows how lazily they have produced these lies. As a tip - next time perhaps research what the place you're slandering actually is before spewing your lies for the...
Read moreSecond update: Dogs not welcome in indoor areas where food is served for midweek lunch either. I wish they'd told us that last time. 'Dog friendly' really isn't accurate. 'Tolerated if you want to eat in the garden' would be more accurate. Not ideal in the rain!
Update: dogs not welcome for Sunday lunch as only allowed in the bar area where food is not served on a Sunday. Very disappointed and reduces our chances of coming back - 'dog friendly' sounds a bit more like a technicality on that basis :(.
Old review: Absolutely brilliant service for a Friday lunchtime. Friendly, welcoming and informed. The venison suet pudding was generous in flavour and size with excellent marrow gravy. The vegetarian soup and sandwich option would have been better if they had used less fatty and more-resistant bread; a pity, as it was locally baked. Only one guest ale but a good'un. Good attention to seasonality on the menu. The veggie stuff felt overpriced but the pricing of the meaty stuff was fair. Overall it felt like a treat of a meal on a rainy Friday afternoon and we will be...
Read moreWe have been to this pub several times now over the years, and the last 5 times we have yet to be successful in eating. On one occasion we arrived at 15.45 I asked if they was still serving to be told “yes” I ran to fetch my wife from the car to then have the barman come and tell us they had stopped serving. On another occasion we asked if we could take a dog into the restaurant area to be told “NO” (fair enough) so we asked if we could eat in the bar area to be told “NO” again obviously you are discriminated against if u have a pet, so we tried to order the Tapas as advised on the board, only once again to be told that we don’t do the tapas anymore. why advertise it then Don’t get me wrong we have eaten in this pub in the past and the food was good but lately this pub has gone down hill , which is why in my frustration I decided to write...
