I visited this by place with my mate when we were down in Bodmin and in search of the Bodmin beast and needed some break. It is in the Main Street and there is off street parking but we parked in the street as we weren’t aware of the off street parking issues The Indian restaurant is quite unique in the sense it is not just Indian food they do, they also do steak. The ambiance of the place is very nice, the staff are very welcoming and the place is quite large with many seatings available Like I said the menu is very varied and I suppose as this is Cornwall it is trying to appeal to everyone We ordered starters and main my mate went for the steak with chips and I stuck to Indian food Any Indian restaurant outside London will always be different and people who are used to London ‘Indian’ restaurants, this is a step down in spicy etc. again it is Cornwall and this is taken into account The food was delicious and was well cooked the steak o am told was spot on and cooked to perfection The service from the staff was very good, they were attentive and for the order right with no issues
The prices are slightly on the expensive side, but going by the location and comparing other restaurants in the vicinity it is economical
So good prices, delicious food (not that spicy , so if you are someone who likes spicy food this may be a disappointment) ample parking and is a good...
Read moreVery average restaurant I’m sorry to say. I’m aware that with Indian restaurants they cater to an area and the usual clientele so I can’t say this it to the restaurants fault exactly, but mush is pretty much what we received. Vegetable biryani was average, rice was good but tasted rather bland. Masala sauce with it had a texture of watered down mash, or like it was put in a blender. Aloo gobi and peshwari naan were really good, highlight of the meal. Tadka dal had to be sent back as it just tatsted like lentils and water soup. Again with the same texture of mash potato, no spices seems to be included. The waiter did actually say it was a plain dal and then got a replacement which clearly had chunks of garlic in, this however seems to be a passive aggressive reply of ‘you want garlic, here’s garlic’. However, I will repeat with that I started this review with. Restaurants cater to the area, so perhaps Bodmin just has a more tame take on Indian dishes and don’t go for spice? Respect to the waiter who did get me a new dish, but then when the bill came out we were charged incorrectly. This was then sorted out, but just...
Read moreOn Saturday 26/09/20 at approximately 18:21 we ordered a take away for delivery, which we were informed would take an hour and 10 minutes and assumed would have 10% off as advertised. Was prepared to wait for the stated time. We gave it until 19:58 before calling to check up on the delivery and didn't think answering the phone with an abrupt Hello and not a good evening this is the Viraj, was very professional. When we asked if we had the right number for the Indian, it was just a yes. (Still below par customer service). We continued to ask if we had been forgotten and if our delivery was on the way, to which the reply was, yes we are really busy. Eventually at about 20.30 the take away arrived, we didn't get the 10% discount and it was cold too lukewarm at best, was tasty though I suppose, but on the whole a very disappointing experience and will not be using them again. Not good for our first Indian take away since moving to Cornwall over...
