A spur of the moment decision to dine out after spotting this new place on Facebook led to the discovery of a little gem with my wife. Alleppey Kitchen is an unassuming addition to the lounge of a traditional country pub in a sleepy little village. The pub is in the process of being gradually refurbished, and the investment in improved kitchen facilities in a collaboration with an ambitious restaurant owner has allowed Alleppey Kitchen an opportunity to present very authentic South Indian cuisine to a local audience, where you would normally only find this diversity in big cities. The “restaurant” is making use of the pub lounge space and hasn’t yet taken it over exclusively, so expect a cosy atmosphere rather than an exclusive restaurant experience. The focus is on the food, with a very personal service rather than the surroundings, although we visited prior to an official grand opening. The food is indeed delicious, fresh, tasty and cooked to order from a well presented menu with the host offering to explain the make up of each dish and your ability to customise to allergens or taste preferences. The authentic South Indian food is very different from the normal Indian restaurants we are surrounded by in the UK, and it’s a very refreshing deviation in flavours and presentation that we both loved. My wife had a Malabar Chicken Curry that was so tasty, we forgot to photograph it. The portions are very healthy indeed, and we left with a bag with enough leftovers to enjoy as a lunch the following day. We will be revisiting with friends to try more of the menu

By far one of the best Indian experiences I've ever had. Growing up with Indian family members I can attest the food here to be the most authentic/accurate to real Indian cuisine, especially the Kerala focused cuisine. The dosas and porottas are absolutely incredible, as a chef I must say the rice is cooked perfectly which a lot of restaurants often don't get it right, and the curries are just the right amount of spicy whilst having that beautiful creamy texture. Aside from the food, the owner is a really nice and chatty guy and I can tell he's put a lot of work and effort into his restaurant. He should be proud as I wish I could give it more than 5 stars, I am thoroughly impressed and even though Bolsover is an hour's drive for me, I will definitely be coming back someday (hopefully soon)!

So good we had to come back! Brought our friends who were amazed that the cook came out with samples to check the spice level before the final dish! Two of the four of us made adjustments that were perfect! Also, the restaurant offers 20% off on Wednesdays and Thursdays! Same amazing level of service and the chutneys, Aubergine curry along with the Kerala Porotta bread were amazing! Thank you Alleppey Kitchen! Excellent food and a great price. Plenty of parking and great selection of beers on draft. Kerala Porotta bread was amazing. Ordered two more to go. Owner took time to explain the menu and make recommendations. He even brought sauce samples so we could adjust the heat, my wife bumped hers up to medium. Customer service was top notch. We will be back!

If you’re searching for an unforgettable culinary experience, look no further than Alleppy Kitchen. This authentic South Indian restaurant truly stands out with its remarkable flavours and commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience.

From the moment you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a warm ambiance that feels inviting and comfortable.

The menu is a delightful exploration of South Indian cuisine, bursting with unique flavors that are both authentic and innovative. Every dish we tried was a testament to the mastery of the chefs, who clearly understand how to elevate traditional recipes to new heights.

What really set Alleppy Kitchen apart, however, was the attentive service provided by the staff. Sree, Jane, and Dylan went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made thoughtful recommendations tailored to our preferences. In an extraordinary touch, they even brought out samples of our chosen sauces for us to try, ensuring we found the perfect level of ‘heat’ to match our tastes. It was this level of service that made us feel valued and truly enhanced our meal.

Another commendable aspect of Alleppy Kitchen is its affordability. For the rich flavours and generous portion sizes offered, the prices are surprisingly reasonable. You won't have to break the bank to indulge in a feast that will leave you coming back for more.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Alleppy Kitchen to anyone craving authentic South Indian cuisine. Whether you are a seasoned fan of Indian food or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is sure to impress with its outstanding flavours, exceptional service and value for money. A little gem that truly deserves a spot on your list of must-visit...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Alleppey Kitchen in Bolsover, and it was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting, with a warm and vibrant decor that instantly made us feel welcome. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we felt at ease even though the restaurant is still finding its feet after only a few days in business.

The food itself was truly a highlight. Every dish was well-prepared and full of authentic flavor, capturing the essence of Indian cuisine beautifully. Each bite was a delightful experience, showcasing the kitchen’s dedication to quality and authenticity.

Though we did wait a bit for our food, the team had been upfront about the expected delay due to the kitchen’s teething process. Because of their honesty, the wait didn’t impact our enjoyment. Once our food arrived, it was clear that the extra time had gone into creating a meal well worth waiting for.

It’s worth noting that some reviews have been less fair, possibly due to minor opening-day hiccups. However, given our experience, I’d say Alleppey Kitchen is off to a fantastic start. Any small adjustments are to be expected with a brand-new restaurant, and I’m confident they’ll smooth out as they settle in.

In summary, Alleppey Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great Indian food. With a little patience and understanding, diners will be richly rewarded with a memorable meal and a...
