!!!!AVOID!!!! Extremely poor service. Front manager/ team lead (a lady) had a real attitude when we came in and no welcome smile and questioned about our booking (yes we had a booking!!!! Sat 4th November 2023 @ 1pm), as if we didn't and made us feel unwelcomed... First RED FLAG. We then waited for a table to be cleaned and sat. After waiting for 20mins for a menu with no luck, we went and got our own menus from the front by the front door... Another 15mins pass with no signs of taking our order (even for drinks) and had to ask for table service. If not it would have taken an another hour to get served... Second RED FLAG. And when we did, the same lady manager/ team lead, had the worst attitude and was like, I can't be bothered another order... and then went ask one of the waiters to take the order without even acknowledging us.... Well over 45mins since we've sat down by this time... Third RED FLAG.... Our biggest RED FLAG was that, I felt (FELT), being a mixed couple, we were treated differently as the a number of people who came after us were sat and served way before us... Even without any prior bookings ( we we close to the front door and we could hear when ppl came in to the restaurant) My wife was at this point like let's just sod them and leave. But given that we've not had anything before and way pass our usual lunch time, our kids were so hungry so we decided to stay anyway as it would have taken more time to go to another restaurant... We've eaten in a lot of Pizza Express all over, and this place is by far the worst, by a country mile. A very long one. Food is as usual and as expected and when ordered they came in a timely manner... But the water we ordered never came, despite asking again.. By the time the desserts came along my youngest already fallen a sleep of waiting.... Based on today's experience I DO NOT recommend the Pizza Express at East Midlands Disgner Outlet. P.s. A kind msg to the lady manager (white with dark hair)... If you don't think you can't provide 100% customer service at all times, this this is not the job for you love. If you are having a bad day, then take a break to cool off or have the day off!!! Be professional... Sorry Pizza Express.. but it only take one to have a bad review... it was not that busy either and certainly not a full house.

Is it now the Pizza Express policy to reduce the amount of food served and increase the cost of it? I know times may be tough but have we reached the point of rashioning, Pizza Express? I couldn't quite belive the ridiculously small portions on our starters and mains when they arrived. A bowl of Nduja linguini which resembled a starter dish was eaten in 5 mouthfulls. Couldn't even see the Nduja sausage, although it was tasty, but being £15, I would have expected a portion befitting the price. A pizza also came as a mains and was also lacking in size and quantity, made even worse by the fact one with a hole in the middle and thin crust had been ordered, again, £15. Starters of kickin doughballs and sundried tomatoes came to £12. We had about 10 sundried tomatoes and 6 tiny doughballs. The dessert was tiny, but we knew this as it was coffee and a small cake combo, so no surprise. The food was tasty. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Service is OK. Its just excrutiating to feel ripped off on portion sizes. This isn't a bespoke Italian restaurant. This is a chain outlet. Why are we paying these crazy prices for simple food like pasta and tomato sauce? £60 for 2 people. 1 hour visit time. Felt hungry soon after.

Would give this ZERO stars. Whilst I'm a regular visitor at the pizza express in Leicester, tried visiting pizza express at East Midlands outlet. Was 'greeted', if one can even call it that, in a rather unwelcoming fashion at the welcome desk. The restaurant was completely empty, however the lady in glasses took a rather unsightly look at us and rudely showed us the door stating that we could not dine with them unless we had a reservation. I must point out that the restaurant was completely empty. (Do zoom into the image, if you can. Not sure how clear it is.) Very unfriendly staff. Would rather give my custom to other restaurants on the premises. Do not spend money with them, don't think the staff welcome guests from ethnic minorities. Actually feel I would have been treated better otherwise. One can only hope this improves. Won't beentering this premises ever again and shall share my experience with others too.

Popped in today for a quick bit to eat before we hit the shops with my partner. Very disappointed with the poor service or rather the lack of it, they had few young teen waiters which was like the blind leading the blind, it reminded me of when our kids were young & we used to visit Pizza Hut, this place is not the cheapest so you expect the very least a good reliable service but we didn't get it here! The actual food once it arrived is very good, we kept asking for drinks but the various waiters kept saying we will bring it but after few requests we finally got drinks on our 2nd round, the food arrived 40mins after we ordered it, this place is designed to eat & go as the tables are for what we call short cafe/barista style dining (In other words tables don't have enough space for starters, mains & drinks alongside each other) therefore the service should match i.e serve, we eat & go. Not in this place, when you watch the waiters 1 was stood around walking away from any work, one young lad was quick but appeared to do all the work by himself whilst 2 girls were more interested in there appearances and mobiles rather than actual serving diners! We asked for coffee/deserts, took 20mins so we cancelled it paid the bill & left to go to Costa around the corner for a bit off old style service! Our local Pizza Express in Derby city centre is much better, bigger & more centred around each table, this place is too small to cater for the amount of tables it seats as there is no rhythm!

Sorry but won't be visiting this particular location...

Didn’t really get off to a good start from when we walked in. 3 different waitress staff looked at us and ignored us at the door when we arrived and we were just stood waiting for abit until I guess a manager saw us to a table. A brilliant waiter came over for our drinks order and it was brought to us quite quickly. Then a different waitress (who seemed like she didn’t want to be there) took our starter and mains order about 10 minutes later. Starters didn’t take too long, maybe 10 minutes, kids were entertained. 15 minutes after we finished our starters, our mains were ‘ordered to the chefs’ and plates taken. Took nearly an hour for our mains to come, the kids were bored at this point and we would have walked out hadn’t it of been for Ryan checking on us, apologising and reiterating to the chefs about our order. It wasn’t super busy, it was late afternoon. I asked Ryan to confirm the times we ordered as it had been a ridiculous amount of time for us to wait and then, I think, the manager came over and apologised that it had been an hour and she would discount the order which was done but I was extremely disappointed. If it wasn’t for Ryan being so attentive and brilliant with the kids and the fact we were so hungry, we would have walked out. Food, brilliant. Ryan, fantastic. Rest of the staff and service times, very disappointing...
