Went on new years eve for a meal as part of a large group. Everyone else pre ordered their meal, when I rang to give my order they said to just do it when I arrived. We arrived at 8pm, and by 9.30pm we still haven't had anyone take my order or check everyone else's order (how they wanted steak etc)
Starters finally arrived at 9.50 and were all present and correct, and stunningly nice to be honest too. Mains started arriving at 10.15pm and by 10.30pm they were still coming out. At 10.40 they apologised and explained they forgot to cook my steak, and would I have an alternative cut instead, which was fine I guess, mistakes happen. It arrive at 11.00pm, as everyone else had already finished, and the sauce was wrong with mine, but with no staff around to ask to swap it and conscious it was getting close to midnight, just started to eat it. About two mouthfuls in, the staff all suddenly appeared and cleared all the plates dishes and cutlery from every which way around me. Found it extremely disgusting to be honest! Felt like I couldn't eat my meal then as they were trying to bring everyone else's deserts to get them fed and cleared for midnight. By the time it was all cleared, was 11.20, and puddings arrived fairly quickly. Despite pre ordering their deserts one of our group was told there was none left which I found to be very wrong as well, she chose an alternative and it arrived very quickly. My mum however, was left waiting for her desert for a long time and after asking at gone half past where hers was, she was told it was sent out and someone else must have ate it 🤦 they begrudgingly sent another out. We had ten minutes to try and get ourselves organised for new year by this time. The plates were all left in front of us, so I personally stacked them so we had space to move and talk etc.
By 12.30am these plates were still sat in a stack in front of me.
I get that it was new years eve and it was busy night, but the restaurant wasn't full and the food was lovely but service was so very slow, many mistakes, and just wasn't expecting to have a table booked for 8pm and only be finishing at almost midnight.
Not sure we'll be back, wasn't a great first...
Read moreWe went on Sunday 16th September 2019 for a meal, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We normally got to The Miller and Carter in Greenmount but we had been told about this place so we thought we would try it. I am a Used Car Sales Manager and am always smart with a shirt and tie on and wear this for 6 days a week so when I go out I like to dress down to something comfortable, not scruffy, just comfortable. We arrived at the door and as we were walking in the person who greeted us looked me up and down and asked " Had we been before..?? " I replied " No but we had been recommended to come. " His reply took us all back as he then said " WELL NEXT TIME YOU COME HERE DONT COME DRESSED LIKE THAT..!!! " and then showed us to a table. My wife then asked me if she had heard right in what he had said and I confirmed it. It is at that point we should have walked out and gone to where we normally go. We ordered the food but the ambience around the table wasn't what we would have liked so that ruined the night, the food was OK at best so nothing to go and tell people about. What made it worse was a couple of lads walked in wearing scruffy tracksuits and baseball caps and not one staff member said anything. Not one for me, will not be returning anytime soon, food was OK like I said before but 4 main courses and 4 puddings with a couple of drinks £118.00, I am sure there are better places to eat for...
Read moreHonest review - came expecting a lot since the old ‘Roka’ was exceptional. We ordered 2 hanging kebabs one steak and one chicken. We only realised when the steak came they didn’t ask us how we wanted it cooking. The steak was over cooked and chewy, the chicken was standard, large portion, but for the cost and standard of the food wasn’t worth it. The menu is like a standard pub food menu. Not much Mediterranean about it to be honest. We had 2 main dishes, a child’s main, 3 drinks non alcoholic and cost £61. I wouldn’t mind paying that if the food was brilliant but it wasn’t. We also waited 1 hour for food and the place wasn’t busy, they did have 2 large party’s in the extension at the back so we expected a wait. The venue is beautiful, we will return for cocktails but not for food sadly. When we arrived the waiter asked us where we wanted to sit, we sat down an then another waiter had a issue where we sat and took it out on the other waiter, we asked if they wanted us to move an said no. We was given a complimentary starter due to waiting so long for food, we said we didn’t order this and the waiter was confused she then said to the other waiter ‘you said this table’ an they replied complimentary. There is some friction between these 2 waiters and it shown to us which I thought was unprofessional. However they was very caring and couldn’t do enough for us just a shame the food...
