We booked this after seeing pretty good things, but sadly it missed the mark.

We were a party of 7 (2 children), and we were seated right outside the kitchen against a railing, which forced the service staff to lean over some of us to serve half our table as well as being stationed within 3 feet of our table, giving a feeling of being watched the whole time.

It seems they have tried to posh up something that frankly didn't need to be, service staff came to remove cultelry after starters, which again was awkward as it interrupted our conversations as we were leaned over or had to hand items over due to poor layout. Despite trying to give a very posh vibe, you don't have a dedicated server to question, as we had one that claimed they can only take drink orders, another for food. I requested the bill from one, which then I had to request to pay by another, it was just a bit of a mess.

In regards to food, the starters and mains I cannot fault, there are some great options on the menu and the flavour's were great, although on the slightly higher side cost-wise, I think it was well executed and if I were purely rating on just starters and mains, this would be a 4/5.

Sadly we did make the choice to get desserts, 3 of us ordered the orange chocolate cheesecake, which all 3 of us had the exact same reaction when trying it, "there was just no flavour what so ever", these were £5.95 each so you would expect there to be at least a hint of something but it was like eating mildly milk flavoured moose, the children had simple ice cream so no complaints there, our other 2 members got the Chocolate fudge cake also at £5.95 each but one was requested to be in a to go box, the one that was eaten in the restraunt came well presented with chocolate sauce, cream and raspberries and was well enjoyed, sadly the to go one was not the same in the slightest, there was nothing to it just a small slice of a cake in a box which was very dishartening when seen.

From this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant, nor do I believe we would...

Came for a valentines meal, always great service and food when run by Rosario, but sadly it’s now a shadow of its former self. The food was not up-to the previous owners standard, and when we explained the food was not nice, over cooked (steak) and cold, we were advised “oh, I’ll let the chef know” (Rosario would have been out himself to sort it out! And always came out to see if everything and everyone was enjoying the food), when I enquired to what the chefs reply was to our response, all we got was “I’m a different chef and cook food differently“ we paid and was asked again was everything ok, to which we explained again the issues we had, and was told “well next time we hope to do better and if you would like a change to the meal then we can do that for you, and did you not ask for a new meal?” which is not much help after the meal has been served, (also I did express my issues, but was not offered any resolution and in my opinion the onus is on the restaurant to offer a replacement / resolution and not for me to need to ask). The staff are good, it’s just a shame about the food. I’m sorry but we won’t be coming here again, so disappointing and so that sorry...

Walking into this restaurant i thought it looked like a nice place to grab something to eat with a friendly atmosphere, but later as my meal progressed i noticed that two of the waitresses, both being women were both working their utter socks off while the older Italian waiter sat there and scoffed his face with pizza and when he finally came to collect my plates he was moody and didn't even ask me what my food was like and my opinion this should basic expectation in any restaurant. However the disappointment did not stop when i went to pay my bill, i was stood at the till and handed this young and hard-working waitress a £20 tip as i felt she had earned it, however i saw this money go straight into a box and later found out that all the tip money go's straight to the owner and the waitresses don't get a penny, which i'm sure i'm not alone in alone in thinking that all waiters and waitresses should receive all the tips as they are the people that are representing the restaurant it self. Due to this i will not be returning and advise others to stay clear as well as i think what they're doing is...

*Update* Nothing major, the service staff and atmosphere are as wonderful as ever -BUT- shrinkflation in action? Pizza seems smaller and the base isn't quite as good as it was - new chef or recioe? Also, ordered a table bottle of San Pellegrino and gone is the traditional 750ml and it's down to a 500ml bottle. Not good value and a little shabby trick to play on loyal patrons. Not enough to knock down a star, but came close! Probably the best Italian restaurant in Bolton, a venerable institution that seems to be a reliable constant on the dining out scene in Bolton. Pizzas are superb, lovely base, the margherita is on point, the deserts are superb. Raspberry pavlova hands down my favourite pudding in a UK restaurant. The kids at Christmas got rudolf themed pizzas. Wonderful staff, nice atmosphere.
