Rice 'n' Three — Restaurant in Bolton

Absolutely terrible! We ordered yesterday (Saturday): 1 chicken biryani, 1 large chicken curry with 2 chapatis for £17, definitely overpriced. A small chicken curry cost £4.50 and large £9.00?? The large is not even double the size of a small size! It was just slightly bigger than the small but definitely not worth it, we felt robbed. The chicken curry was heavily watered down and you can actually see the water settle at the top whilst the rest of curry and ingredients sank down. The chicken biryani didn't have any chicken in there so another rip off. Also we thought have some later, so left curry to cool, partially covered - returned 2 hours later and it actually stank really bad! like it went off meaning the ingredients they used were of very poor quality and it seemed the chicken they used went off! I would not go here again, extremely disappointed. The guy serving wasn't friendly although the guy mopping was! In my honest opinion we really felt this was a complete waste of time and...

Cat was licking her lips at the rice as she counted to three. “One… two… curry me up, baby!” But that’s where the excitement ended and the existential food funk began.

I, Bryan, the Rice n Three Chimpanzee, was doing the banana splits in the corner, trying to summon some spice with interpretive dance. Nothing. Not a whiff of coriander. Not a glimmer of garlic naan.

The décor. Like if purgatory opened a pop-up shop. The vibes were less “Bollywood banquet,” more “Tuesday afternoon in a forgotten bus depot.”

Flavour to savour, or no salad misbehaviour? Sadly, it was the latter. Dry rice, sauce like tired lava, and naan with the personality of a deflated paddling pool.

Service with a smile... More like a face like a steaming pile, and not of bhuna.

In conclusion: Rice N Three? More like Rice N Flee. Only go if you’re lost, bored, or in need of something to...

Highly recommend Rice n Three. A long standing classic that has stood the test of time. A Family business that has expanded to cover two areas of Bolton.

The menu has specials that change each day, along side the set grilled items that you can always order.

The best way to describe it would be good Home Cooked Food! (how you Mum / Grandmother​ would cook). You get treated like you are a guest in their own home. It's no frills good food.

They are HMC certified so no worries about stunning of chicken etc they also have additional seating upstairs.
