I visited on Tuesday afternoon with my son and 2 friends. I had booked in advance for our afternoon teas, which I had to do. We were seated immediately and brought our food. I have to say, that as someone who has eaten her fair share of afternoon teas, this one was one of the very best! There were ample sandwiches ham, cheese, beef and chicken, and 5 different types of cakes all homemade, apple strudel with custard, vanilla slice, banoffee pie and two different versions of scones with jam & cream. All this was washed down with tea and coffee pots full of either decaff or ordinary tea or coffee or speciality teas not the usual one cup. We were also asked if we needed a top-up! We ate at our leisure, not feeling rushed at all, and takeaway boxes were provided for the food we couldn't eat. The decor is as you would expect for a tea shop and is lovely. The staff are wonderful and friendly, and they couldn't do enough to help us. The price is definitely worth it at £20 per person, I have been to other places that have been more expensive for less food and not as tasty. In conclusion, please if you're in the Westhoughton area and looking for a place for something to eat, either a snack or something a bit more special give Thyme for Tea a call, I promise you won't be disappointed! Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful afternoon, we'll definitely see you again soon!

My daughter treated me to afternoon tea for Mothers Day, the food was lovely, there was definitely plenty of it! The cakes were are all amazing, lovely touch of fresh raspberries grapes and strawberries on the plates, my tea was lovely and strong as requested. The staff are lovely friendly and helpful, took our little dog, he was treated to a sausage, didn’t eat it there, but ate it when we got home . Lovely little cafe, would recommend, the breakfast looks good too!

A day after updating this review I've received these text messages from Thyme for Tea (TfT)

(TfT) Hi booking you In for the 7th April. We usually don't do individual ones unless special diet. I can see there is 1 vegan. I can't make out what others are. We don't use prawns. Do you still want booking in

(TfT) Also will need numbers and a time please

Replied .... Thank you for you reply, however, the ladies decided yesterday that because you hadn't replied since last Wednesday (7 days) their custom wasn't really wanted or valued, hence they would go elsewhere.

Acknowledgment straight away...(TfT) Ok. Sorry you feel that way. I do reply during work hours. Thank you for letting me know.

Update..... sorry to say that at the time I purchased these sandwiches I also made a booking for my sewing class for afternoon tea for 15 people. I changed the time putting it an hour later then they could have regular lunch trade. I was asked to provide allergy info to a personal number for ease. Which was simply replied to as we are fully booked now. Obviously not interested in catering for vegans, nut allergies and other food intolerancies. They were sent a photo of what peoples allergies were and also asked if people could be allowed to put any relishes onto the sandwiches themselves. Reply was incredibly blunt after I'd been in store to book, yhat they were full. This has left 15 women from Westhoughton incredibly upset 😡 and annoyed 😑 that they have been treated so abysmally. Non of us will recommend or cross the threshold again.

1st Visit ....Fresh sandwiches made to order to takeaway within minutes that were absolutely delicious with plenty of filling that was especially tasty. We also got chocolate chip slab cake to take away that was light and fluffy with more than enough pieces of chocolate chips. This place has fantastic home made food, speciality loose lead teas all served in an environment that is a...

What a lovely surprise to stumble on this lovely tea shop! Myself and my daughter were just taking our dog for a walk and we saw the sign that dogs were welcome so we thought we’d pop in for a drink. On entering we were greeted by Camelle who was very welcoming and handed a menu. My daughter and I knew straight away after looking at the menu that it was not just a drink we were going to order; everything on the menu looked delicious. As we’d already had a lunch we decided on a slice of cake each to go with our drinks. I had the homemade Jaffa cake cheese cake and my daughter had the home made strawberry cheese cake made by Jane. Both were to die for! They were a huge portion but impossible to leave any on the plate! In fact we both agreed they were the best desserts we’d ever had. There was such a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel so welcome as was our dog who was treated to a sausage (after Camelle discreetly checked with me before hand). We will definitely be coming back to sample some more homemade...
