Worst Pub of the Year Award
If Wetherspoons did this award the Railway at Lytham would win hands down. Made the mistake of trying curry night here last week. On entry there was nobody serving at the bar. The few staff present were running around like in some gameshow. The game was lets see how many curries one member of staff can carry out to the tables in one go and in the quickest time. One poor girl looked out of breath, hassled like she didn't want to be there, sweating over the meals and drinks she was handling. Took a seat to order on my phone to avoid an argument on who’s turn it would be next to get served. You know the one, the bar person comes back to a full bar and says right who’s next and everyone says "I’m next". Table looked clean but it and the chair were very sticky, greasy and gritty to the touch with food tramped into the carpet all around me. Pint of Stella delivered to the table in the correct glass. On further inspection three quarters full due to at least a 2 inch head. No time to pour it properly. Before I could say anything waitress gone. Not sure what I started to drink but one thing is for sure it definitely, definitely was not Stella. It tasted like no other lager. Then the curry arrived. Think left overs from a tasteless curry house you gave a go the night before. Then heat it in the microwave for 60 seconds. Then, here’s the trick, leave it under a heat lamp for an hour and you’ll be on the right track. Disgusting experience. Got up and out of there after my second mouthful. It’s not often an establishment can fail so catastrophically in all it’s core values, customer service, food, drink and cleanliness. Left feeling as if i’d been ripped off with a fake premium lager, sub standard cold food and all in a very unhygienic dirty place. Chance of being poisoned or catching Covid very high....
Read moreCame upon this lovely hotel then realised it was a Wetherspoons. Was considerably busy for Thursday but managed to find a table. Although lots of tables still had plates and empty glasses on. Enjoyed a drink and decided to have a bite to eat. Ordered our food on the app and the drinks arrived promptly ✔️ After waiting over half hour my husband found the lady manager to enquire where the food was, the pub had quietened down, she radioed to the kitchen and said it would be another 15 minutes! We sat waiting nearly finishing our drinks for another 20 minutes with no food. I went to her again as we had not received our food and it had now been nearly an hour! (This is not the usual Wetherspoon policy of food within 15 minutes.) She seemed puzzled and said table 29 had been sent out! No it hadn’t! She said I’ll go and enquire but never returned to us to explain or apologise or offer any help! The manager then walked past us to take drinks to a nearby table upon which I enquired again where the order was after over an hour!! We only ordered 3 small plates for two of us so not a complicated order! As we were enquiring the food arrived from a male manager. The food was not hot but slightly warm but was so hungry didn’t want to return it. I am so disheartened with this wetherspooons and the managers who were not in the slightest Interested. Very...
Read moreWe came for a quick drink as tourists to the beer garden. We brought our freindly dog. We were finishing our drinks in the beer garden and a guy with a body cam, I suppose he was a doorman walked past and without making eye contact barked "no dogs allowed in here" and continued on his trajectory. I said to my fellow guest that,s ok but it was not much of an issue. We were the Only people in the beer garden. He decided to answer my comment to my friend and said "Yes it is an issue because it is policy" as he walked out of the beer garden. Again making no eye contact and marched out of the area. The approach this man made to us was hostile and confrontational and unwelcoming. If we were not allowed to bring a dog into the beer garden then you would expect a civil conversation to explain this. This man came accross as an authoritarian, he had a bodycam so probably door staff and his demeanour was commanding not requeasting. We were the only people in the beer garden apart from a poor staff member who was eating his food a long way away from us who also caught the brunt of his anger as he left the beer garden for not telling him about the dog. Not the best impression for Weatherspoons. The guy needs to be retrained on approaching customers. I...
