We booked a table at Novello for our wedding anniversary as a special treat for a special occasion. There is no denying the quality of the food was amazing. It was all beautifully cooked and presented. The starter I had (King prawn with Italian sausage) was probably one if the nicest starters I have ever had. My wife's starter (crab) was delicious too but a very disappointing portion...which seemed to be a theme for the rest of the evening. The mains were delicious, but the portions were ridiculously small. My starter was more substantial. I would expect these portion sizes for a 5 or 6 course tasting menu, but not as main meals in their own right. Very expensive and not good value for money. The service was poor. Tony, the waiter was rude and walked away from the table without asking if there was anything else we needed (which there was) when taking our order. He was in too much of a rush and not interested in our experience (that we were paying through the nose for). He came across as arrogant and unfriendly... not behaviours you expect to come across in a so called fine dining restaurant. The younger waiter serving drinks was pleasant and polite though. We will not be returning to Novello anytime soon. There are much better value dining experiences just a short walk away. This is a shame as the quality of the food was outstanding. It was the portion sizes, price and poor service that ultimately left a bad taste...
Read moreMy goodness, where do I start?! 😁 This is the first time I've eaten here in quite a while and I can't believe what I've missed out on. The service was timely and friendly from start to finish. The owner, Tony, circulated making sure all customers were happy with everything and was a real gentleman. And the food... my word, the food! The dishes were exquisitely presented and the flavours were heavenly. Everybody in my party was immensely impressed with their choices. I can confidently say this is the best meal I've eaten out. The menu is slightly more expensive than some of the other restaurants in Lytham, but you get what you pay for... quality. This is one venue I shall be returning...
Read moreBeen to Novello a number of times in the last year and can report that the food is always of the highest standard.
We tend to go off Cicchetti and the standout dishes are: Sea bass with pickled vegetables and hollandaise foam, Tuna tartare, Beef tartare, and Lamb ravioli.
The food is exceptional and always worth the wait.
Moreover, the staff are extremely friendly and Tony (the owner) is always wonderfully attentive. In fact, he always arranges a bottle of our favourite Champagne which isn't on the menu.
Novello is a once a month treat and is simply leagues above anywhere else in Lytham....
