Banny’s Fish & Chips – Colne – Review I visited Banny’s in Colne and decided to try something a little different – the Indian Madras Fish and Chips. Safe to say, it didn’t disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly – crisp golden batter on the outside with soft, flaky white fish inside. But the real standout was the Indian twist. The spices gave it a warm, aromatic kick without overpowering the fish. The chips were proper chippy chips – chunky, fluffy, and not greasy. It came with a madras spiced curry sauce that brought everything together, adding loads of flavour. If you like a fusion of classic British fish & chips with a desi edge, this dish nails it. I also added a side of Chinese curry sauce, and honestly, it worked really well alongside the Indian flavours. A nice contrast that added even more depth and variety to the meal. Service was quick, staff were friendly, and the place was clean and well-kept. It's definitely worth a visit if you’re passing through or local. Rating: 4.5/5

Very pretty interior but very slow customer service. Menu options VERY limited. Quiet Saturday evening but it took 10-15 mins to be seated. 😟 When my food arrived I went up to ask for ketchup to a female staff who was stood by the bar, literally just stood there doing nothing. She replied saying she’d be over in a minute with it. 35 minutes later, no sauce and she is quite literally still stood there gazing into air. I would’ve gone back up to ask for sauce again but my mum shared the gravy sauce she got with her meal. Why have an established restaurant when your workers can’t even provide basic customer service. Will not be returning and will not be recommending to anyone. The service and staff are so much nicer in the Burnley Bannys. Not to mention, the Burnley branch has a variety of options on the menu. Also, the salt and pepper chips are quite literally just over salted chips 😂

Batterly Disappointed Banny’s, what happened? I left genuinely disappointed after what should have been a nostalgic treat. The large fish and chips I ordered was anything but large — I had to send it back because it was barely half the expected size. Not even an apology, no goodwill gesture, and no concern that our group couldn’t eat together as a result. That alone was frustrating. Then came the masala fish — which turned out to be all batter, no fish (see pics). A greasy, crunchy shell hiding a pathetic sliver of fish inside. Honestly, it felt more like a battered excuse than a proper meal. I’ve raved about Banny’s before — my last visit with my father-in-law three years ago was memorable for all the right reasons. Sadly, this time, it was memorable for all the wrong ones. I don’t think I’ll be returning again.

It's my very first time visiting as a dining customer. We've eaten bannys from takeaway at home which as always been hot and fresh but there nothing like it straight from the kitchen in the right atmosphere with a 6ft wooden boat dangling above your head! 🤣

The atmosphere and cleanliness is excellent right from walking upto the entrance and arriving at reception. A nice large warm open space with a huge aquarium from mid floor to ceiling with comfy loungers for times when they are at capacity. Greeted with a friendly smile, promptly shown to a table and handed a menu which included specials.

Ordered the standard fish and chips with a side of Chinese curry. My partner just wanted a fish as she doesn't eat chips but asked for a side of bread and had gravy with hers. We discovered a discount off the main meal price of £2.95 due to no chips.

Food was quick to table and very delicious and the best bit no seagulls to steal your chips!!

Overall Bannys is an excellent choice either for a quick pick up takeaway or a sit down dining experience and you won't be dissapointed. Staff are very attentive, helpful and there's plenty of them. Toilets are immaculate, smelling fresh and regularly checked.

The prices aren't your back Street chippy and if your going with a family of 4 adults expect to be paying in the region £74 for meals and a large drink each. If your going for pudding and sweets budget a little more.

After all Bannys is a treat out and is well worth and evening with family or friends 🧡 . Licenced drinks are available

Additional :- I think they have a special for small children where they eat for 1p with every adult meal but please check upon arrival. Kids crayons 🖍 ...

We've been enjoying the occasional trip to Banny's for a 'chippy treat' for a number of years now and have always enjoyed their quality fish and chips in their lovely restaurant. However, the last time we visited, we were somewhat disappointed. It appears that standards are slipping. We were led to our table, which had been neatly laid as usual. But as we sat down, we noticed about four or five discarded chips on the floor. We looked at the table opposite and noticed that although the table had been relaid with clean cutlery and napkins, etc., they had left a dirty knife on the floor under the table. We watched as one of the waitresses came to clear an adjacent table after a couple had left. She took away the empty plates, etc, and sprayed, then wiped the table before relaying the cutlery, etc. She paid no attention to whatever food, etc, had landed on the floor beneath the table. As for the food, well, it's always been to a very high standard, but not so on this occasion. Most of the chips were inedible due to them being 'too crunchy'. I don't know why this was as they certainly didn't look burned, but the skins were almost impossible to bite through. We did complain when we paid the bill, but the young lady was a little insincere with a sort of apology as she took our money. Not a great experience overall, so maybe we'll look elsewhere...

Absolutely terrible!!! Thought it would be a good idea to make use of the 50% dining offer so 3 adults and 1 toddler went. Queued up for 30 minutes to get in, which wasn't a problem, plenty of people wanting to use the offer so it was very busy. Standard order, 3 fish and chips, toddler meal and bread and butter, once the food arrived, thats when it goes downhill, the chips were over fried so they were just like scraps and the fish ( ? ) was similar, all overfried batter with very little fish in-between, no one came to check on us but all the staff were really busy, once they came to take our half eaten meal away, we realised that we didn't get the bread and butter, told the person in charge and she said it would be taken off the bill, guess what, on paying, it was still on, as we were told the total before we got the bill, we had already paid by card so they said they couldn't deduct it !! Just told them once sorted, put it in the tips box. All the staff were working really hard and doing a good job in the circumstances, cant really blame them for overlooking the bill discrepancy, but the quality of food on this occasion really was very poor and sub standard, we have been lots of times before and really enjoyed the food, but, sorry bannys, not on...
