Whilst visiting Rawtenstall, me and my mum (72) decided to go a café for a coffee and a cake. Upon entering this café, we went to the counter to order our items (a coffee and a cake & a tea and cake). Upon sitting at the table there were pots on the table so I asked one of the girls to clear the table and wipe it for me (she was polite and did it). We sat waiting for at least 10 minutes when the coffee and the pot of tea arrived, no milk, no cakes, so after waiting for a while, my mum decided to get up and go and ask for a jug of milk as my tea was going cold. She asked politely at the counter, and at which point I could see one of the girl behind the counter wasn't very happy. She marched over to our table and very loudly said in an abrupt tone/sarcastically that she was sorry we didn't get the milk but as you can see we are busy whilst looking round the cafe. There were four members of staff on that day and I have worked in a café myself and also a public house, everyone had been served and there was a lady in the café which was seated before us, by this time at least 20 mins had not received her items either. We had already paid for the items if we hadn't we would have got up and walked out following the staff...
Read moreVery dissatisfied. Ordered a bacon and mushroom sandwich. Took a couple of bites out of it and noticed a hair in the sandwich. I spoke to the man who took my order and brought the sandwich to me. He took it back to the kitchen and said sorry about that we'll make you a fresh one. At that point I wasn't feeling hungry as it made me feel sick Hairs in food is a big no for me. I approached the counter and said no thank you I'll leave it can I just pay for my drink. He then said oh I'm sorry about that not sure how it got there to which I replied no me neither as it's a blond hair to which he replied to be honest it looks like a dog hair have I got a dog. No I don't own a dog. Pretty discusting that I find a hair in the middle of my sandwich to start with and now it's a dog hair. To which he replied oh well it's one of life's mysteries. Absolutely gobsmacked. Just trying to reply to your response. I did acknowledge the fact you offered to make a fresh sandwich and I declined. Not quite sure about me being distracted and asking for WiFi has to do with the fact there was a hair in the middle of the sandwich and saying it didn't come out of your kitchen 🤷 that just adds...
Read moreLovely little cafe on the side of bank Street. There is outside parking and a fair few tables. The downside is they allow table reservation and sometimes when you walk in more than half is reserved and people are coming in and out or then asking if it's OK to share a table. Food is nice however options are limited. The soup of the day is always good and the bread is fresh. It's a pity the wedges do not have a hand-cut home made feel and the sandwiches are also nice. A bit baffled with the crisps and micro salad on the plate but it does offer a nice little extra. The coleslaw is creamy and nice. The price is a little above average as a little more and you could get a two main meals at other establishments rather than sandwiches, soup and wedges.
Nice addition to Rawtenstall and people are friendly.
An added bonus is the colouring books and pens for kids.
The seating is a little cramped but it's not so bad. Lovely place and will...
