Caspari Restaurant — Restaurant in Borough of Runnymede

I visited recently and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The food was average at best, with nothing really standing out. To start, we were brought two pots of olives without asking, and were then charged £5 each for them — completely unexpected and excessive. On top of that, we were charged for bread, which should be complimentary at any decent restaurant. We had an elderly lady with us, whose order had been forgotten and had to reorder the pizza that she had chosen whilst the rest of us were eating. Being Italian, I expected better with the pasta, but it was overcooked and lacking in flavor. The pizza dough was also a letdown — it didn’t taste fresh, and I suspect the bases are pre-made and just topped with tomato and toppings. Service wasn’t much better. We had to repeatedly ask for our water to be topped up, which felt like an afterthought. And to top it off, a £60 service charge was added to the bill, which is absolutely outrageous for the level of service and food quality we received. The only reason this is one star is for the creepy waiter who would not leave me alone. The food is excellent, but I feel unsafe going to the restaurant. As a young woman, I have had uncomfortable experiences with men, and this restaurant is one reason why. Often when I go in there, the restaurant is mostly empty. There’s always an older man working there, who often talks to me. The last time I went, he kept trying to pressure me to drink. He was trying to coerce me into drinking more cocktails, even saying it was on the house. He would not take no for an answer. He asked me where I was studying since I’m a uni student, about my family, and where I was from. It was extremely unprofessional, rude, and plain disgusting. I have gone to this restaurant several times, but this is the most extreme that the waiter has been. My wife and I decided to come here on August Bank Holiday 31st Aug for what should have been a pleasant lunch. However, i was mortified when I found a large moth that still seemed to be alive in my salad which came with the bruschetta. Although the waiter was apologetic (anyone would be), and offered to take the charges off the salad and drinks, they did not provide an explanation for this. The Manager didn't really seem that surprised or bothered. They obviously did not seem to be paying attention in the kitchen when they put the salad on my plate and it was only a small piece of salad. In my view, this is totally unacceptable and I'm sure anyone would agree I was totally put off. I bit my tongue at the time as I was with my wife and did not want to cause a scene.
