Went to the golden grove on Sunday for my Mums 82nd birthday.. On arrival we struggled to get my Mum into the pub because the only door with an accessible wheel chair door had a private party going on and we were told to use another door but couldn’t as it had stairs.. It was lashing down and my Mum was getting upset, she actually has dementia and lives in the care home across the road.. We eventually got in and the party guests were very gracious and moved out of the way for us.. Our table was set up, three chairs and a space for the wheel chair.. The noise for a lunchtime pub/ restaurant was deafening.. They had a singer that was so loud that the people in the restaurant had to shout at each other.. I couldn’t even hear my Mum speak, so we had hardly any communication at all.. This was her first time in a restaurant this year, due to lots on medical issues.. We ordered starters and they came out but we had no side plates to put the food on and after we had all finished our main courses and desert, a member of staff asked us to move to another table as they’d made a mistake and gave us the wrong table, we were literally just finishing tea and then we were off.. We’d booked until 16.15 and it was set up for a wheelchair but still had 20mins to go..’ There was also a tall lady who was probably a manger, who ran everywhere like things were on fire, it created stress and wasn’t a peaceful dining experience at all… But the food was good, I had the smoked beef brisket Sunday lunch and it was tasty but no green veg, carrots or cauliflower at all the refurb of this pub/restaurant was amazing though and the garden is huge.. Just wish they’d have warned us about the private party, we booked online said about my Mums birthday and her being in a wheel chair.. I will probably return as I’ve had quite a few nice drinks in here but I’ll choose a more peaceful setting for my...

I recently visited after their refurb. They have done a fantastic job however there are still some area's that need to be worked on.

The garden was busy when we arrived however there were some empty tables but a lot of the chairs outside had not been cleaned in a while and also the tables had not been wiped clean. (However saying that our empty glasses and plates were cleared away when we were on them BUT in the 4-5 hours we were there I didn't see an outdoor table be cleaned once...)

The bar is very small which does make it difficult to get a drink as the team are clearly struggling to work at a fast pace with such little room. The queue did go back into the restaurant and could be waiting up to 5-10 minutes.

I didn't understand why table service was only for part of the restaurant when there was no one inside, surely reduce the queue inside and do table service outside?

Onto the food, we ordered at the bar and our food came but we had to wait for cutlery to arrive as this was not done before. I tried the newly added, smoked pork ribs which honestly did fall off the bone and were tasty but need's more sauce. It would be good to add a pot of a hot smokey bbq glaze on the side to add as you make your way through.

The burger as always was great!

All in all, i think it's going to be a really positive addition to chertsey pub's but little things like the above in the first few weeks of re-opening are so important and hopefully can be resolved as the Red Lion in Shepperton is great.

Will be back and you should try it if...

It's been a fair while since i've been to the Grove and not sure why but i haven't been until today.

Last minute mothers day arrangements went downhill and decided to stop on by with the mere hopes of a table!

So we show up and even though they was closed for bookings they still gave us a table which was extremely generous of them, the service was superb the two lady waiters were so smiley and engaging which gave a good vibe, the music was subtle and nice to listen too, the restaurent area was a nice casual vibe and the food was spectacular! Price was definitely worth it, leaving us all fully stuffed and in need of a nap!

Pricing wise, for an adult it was around £20-£30 which is very suitable considering the quality and service and for a child it's about £7-15 and for the size it was very farely priced!

On top of everything as it was Mothers Day they even brought some flowers over to my partner for her to take home which was a lovely gesture considering we didn't book!

Definitely will be...

Why 5* simply because they hit the mark consistently well. It might not amazing but what you get it is flawless. It has been so long since last time I was served a burger with fresh meat. That only deserves on its own a 5*. How difficult it could be to serve fresh food you would ask? Apparently extremely difficult according to the numbers of premises proudly offering processed food. As long as they serve fresh meat burger it is a winner.I went there twice to double check because the first time was after their recent re-opening and twice it was as good - I would advise to get the one with Bacon though. It has an edge over the plain one. The list is long but I hope to hear from someone else how the rest of the carte is. You also have car park available and the inside decor is really cute.

Visited the newly refurbished grove, new entrance through the left hand shed. Looks great inside and outside and service was very friendly and helpful. Drinks selection is good with lots of beer choices on tap. Food menu is limited currently but will be added to in due time, they have nibbles, pizza and burgers. They also offer vegan options and we tried the vegan pizza, which was tasty. Inside they have a games section, with shuffleboard, darts and kids play area (outside). Felt cosy and comfortable inside, we sat outside initially but it gets a bit colder in the evening. The pub doesn't get any evening sunshine but has lighting and a couple of cabins.
