Refurb looks great. Shame about the food completely letting it down. Waiter took our order promptly which was good, ordered starters and roasts. We tried to ordered 2 Turkey roasts and one beef. Then waiter came back only Turkey legs, beef or pork, so again we ordered 2 beef and one pork. He came back again, only chicken and beef. So again we ordered 2 beef and chicken. First fail, no communication from kitchen to floor staff, what communication there was clearly incorrect. Starter, Prawn cocktail was Ok, two to share pulled pork and chilli beef nachos not cheap @Ā£8.25, very dry, a spoonful of the meat topping and dipping sides in tiny ramakins not catered for two sharing. The beef roasts - poor is an understatement. One small potato cut into 3, tiny stuffing ball, veg freezing especially the green beans. Beef stingy , so thin almost transparrent, came out of a packet, child size portions. One of our party sent it back refusing to eat it. We were assured it wasn't packet Beef, when it clearly was. Amy, the waitress we complained to was the only saving grace for this bad dining experience. Very apologetic, offered to replace our meals, I didn't want to chance it but, one of our party took up her offer with a burger, which again wasn't amazing. She also offered drinks puddings etc. Didn't take up the offer. We asked for the Bill. Amy refused to charge us for our bad experience and just wanted us to be happy so we would come back again and give it another go. I am myself in then catering trade, and would employ her at the drop of a hat. Fantastic customer service. Unfortunately her efforts were in vein, as we will not return to eat there again. Abysmal. If I were the manager of this place, the kitchen would be the first on my hit list, and the brewery should take heed and take action because they will not recoup the money ploughed into the refit if you dish up food like that....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReally disappointed with our experience, have been here several times previously but we had booked weeks in advance for Motherās Day, we went in as family to have lunch and drinks. Firstly we were advised there was no full menu only 1 roast dinner was left and the rest was a gluten free menu with half the items not being available, we were then told to wait and they would come back to see if they can open a bigger menu but this was a no, just advised there was now turkey and beef roasts⦠no one asked about allergies, one of us do have allergies but thankfully nothing mentioned on the menu of this, and there was only 5 things to choose from on the menu anyway, ordered drinks and wrong alcohol was given, the food came and to be fair it did all come hot however the open sandwich was meant to be filled with slices of rump steak, grilled peppers and nacho cheese sauceā¦. It came and the baguette wasn't cooked, the āslices of rump steakā was 3 small chunks you could never have called it the Philly cheese steak they said it was. New staff in the bar area, difficult for them as they did not know what to do and on a busy Sunday including it being Motherās Day, maybe not advised to have new staff but I mean we all need to learn somewhere so not knocking this just maybe could have thought it out a bit better. Was over charged on the bill by Ā£10 we were not even provide a bill just came with the card machine, checked this and corrected. Everything was unorganised, felt rushed and just disappointed by the whole food situation as it was meant to be a nice special lunch and was nothing even...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited on a Friday night a couple of weeks ago for a relaxed Friday night meal and a drink. Having not checked out the menu beforehand, we were very pleasantly surprised to find that we could order burgers for just Ā£5, even on a Friday evening! Given that weāre vegetarian, we were also very pleased to see we still had some good options.
For drinks, we had a couple of cocktails - my wife had a āPurple Rainā and I had a āGodfatherā. These were very well priced also at two for Ā£8, which is again very good value for a Friday evening. We sat in the eating area towards the back of the pub where it was relatively quiet and comfortable. The place could probably do with a good clean or refurbishment though, or that area at least.
We ordered a halloumi burger and the āMoving Mountainsā burger to share, and got both of these for just Ā£5 each which was brilliant. Both burgers were really good, and were served incredibly quickly as well. The Moving Mountains burger is tasty, but still doesnāt beat the āBeyond Meatā burgers!! There was a bit of a wait for the drinks, but they did bring these to the table which was nice. The only downside with the food was the very small amount of chips we were given, which made half of the plate look very sparse! If weād known that was going to be the case, weād have happily paid a little more for an extra portion between us.
All in all, this was a really good meal considering how low the cost was, and weād definitely look at going...
