We chose this restaurant as was close to where we were staying and the menu looked lovely. They were busy which is normally a good sign, having not booked they set us up a table by the door which we were grateful for. Shortly after we were seated another couple arrived who had also not booked and were obviously regulars, they were offered a table we were told was reserved and during the meal we noticed a few tables not being used, one blatantly covered with menus in much better location and would have prevented my partner getting a cold back from the draft by the door. We opted for the buffet menu and decided to order a couple of starters to get an idea of portion sizes (as did not want to over order & waste food) when ordering we were asked to order several starters at once as was easier for the kitchen (that had been our plan) an hour and half later we were still waiting on our main which eventually arrived. It was obvious the staff were looking after the regulars above us as the couple that came in after us had eaten there starters and mains and left by the time our mains arrived. The quality of the food was not the best, the plates were cold making the food cold. I ordered Pad Thai (one of my favourite dishes) what arrived was nothing like a Pad Thai I've ever had before. The chow main noodles had not been cooked properly either. When we got the bill having said on the menu service charge not included (therefore you expect to add at your discretion) the bill had a service charge added. At this point we decided to ask to speak to the manager and politely mentioned the service charge and were told he'd take it off without actually listening to what we were saying, we then started to express our experience thinking the manager should be aware but have never known a manager be so rude, he kept cutting us off and said you've been here 2 hours and are complaining to which we said yes as we shouldn't have been there for 2 hours but waited so long for our food. He assumed that by being there that long we had enjoyed the food to which we said no we hadn't and were asked if we planned to go back we said no his response was good I'm sick of people like you and couldn't get us out quick enough. I do not recommend...
Read moreHaving used this place for take-away in the past, we found ourselves popping in on a Saturday evening hoping for a table as we were in a bit of a rush to eat before heading out to a party. We were advised there were no tables available, so we ordered a few bits to take-away as didn’t have time to mess about. As we were waiting I noticed one of the empty tables had a note on it for a booking 50 mins time - so I had a word with who I presume is the manager and promised we would vacate before the booking, meaning we could eat at a table! The food was served very quickly, only a few dishes like I say but it’s one of our more common choices. Satay chicken, beef & mushrooms and a chicken fried rice. £33-ish with a £3 service charge. We enjoyed the food, perfectly hot and also tasty. My partner did say her satay chicken could of done with a bit more sauce as it comes with more when we order it as a takeout. (So she could put it on the rice more..) but I think next time when we’re not in so much of a rush we would probably just request a bit more sauce - I’m sure that wouldn’t take the kitchen a minute to knock up.
Just before writing this review I took a look through others and notice some giving 1-star reviews on the account they were ill from the food here, which I personally find a little odd as knowing a bit about the food industry from my family owning their own take-away in the past, if one person was ill then a hell of a lot more would of been too - therefore the restaurant would of known about it.
I do a lot of Google reviews and always give a fair rating, and I do my best to explain experiences positive or negative. I won’t be influenced by other reviews or intimidated by owners/managers as I firmly believe this ruins the trust the public have in reviews.
Admittedly this is our first dining-in experience here, however we’ve used Yum Yum probably 3-4 times in the last 18 months for takeaway and neither of us have ever been sick after, or had a complaint...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at a Chinese restaurant called Yum Yum Eatery . I must say, it was quite a disappointment. The overall ambiance of the place was dull and uninviting. The restaurant was poorly lit and had a stale smell lingering in the air.
The service was incredibly slow and disorganized. It took an eternity for the staff to take our orders, and even longer for the food to arrive at our table. When it finally did, the dishes were lukewarm and lacked any flavor or authenticity. The ingredients seemed low-quality, and the portions were surprisingly small for the price.
The menu boasted a wide variety of dishes, but the taste did not live up to the expectations. The flavors were bland and lacked any depth or complexity. It felt like the food was prepared hastily without any attention to detail. Even the popular Chinese dishes like Kung Pao Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork tasted like they came from a pre-packaged mix.
To add to the disappointment, the hygiene standards were questionable. The tables were sticky, and the utensils were not properly cleaned. It made us question the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and food preparation area.
Overall, I would not recommend Yum Yum Eatery to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable Chinese dining experience. There are certainly better options available in town that offer delicious and well-prepared Chinese cuisine with better service and...
