Lovely restaurant located near the old town market building in Faversham. I received a warm welcome from the lady owner and straight away it was apparent she was passionate about what she does. On offer in front of your very eyes is a great selection of cakes, scones and other sweets goodies which are all made on site ( see photos ) They offer sandwiches and jacket potatoes with a good range of fillings and toppings. There's an all day breakfast and smaller breakfast options. Unlike many cafes and restaurants chips ARE NOT the order of the day here. I went for that great comfort food option, cottage pie which came with carrots and cabbage and a generous jug of gravy for £8.95 which was very nice indeed. There was also an option of a plate of bubble and squeak which had options of bacon, sausage egg and gammon to accompany it. That's definitely one for another day. To take my wish for comfort food further I had a rhubarb and ginger crumble for dessert which came with lashings of thick custard. Again this was homemade and was full of flavour, mmmm so so good. To drink I had a flat white which was full of flavour, so good I had another. There is seating inside and out and if you wanted to brave it on a chilly day like yesterday, blankets were available. I would imagine it's really nice to sit out in the historic market square, take in the views and watch the world go by. There is a customer toilet. I spoke to the owner for a while before I left and was told there are some new menu items upcoming which sounded very interesting. A very pleasant experience and a place I would...
Read moreLovely little cafe right in the middle of Faversham. Very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was great, friendly and happy to serve yours truly.
When one enters the cafe, one is instantly left with the impression this is a cake and tea kind of establishment. At first look, only a pavement sign (which prompted me to park the bus there) suggested they did salmon and cream cheese bagels (possibly other food too). That and the menu stand at the entrance.
I ordered a bagel, espresso and a sparkling water. The bagel was good, but could be better. Coffee was too dark roasted to my taste. Maybe people who like dark roasted coffee would appreciated it more than I did. The sparkling water was a good brand and of the greatest quality.
I did not try their cakes. It looks to me they are the reason why most people visit the cafe. Probably next time. Recommended to tea and...
Read moreHave been here twice and served both times by quite an unfriendly lady/waitress which is very contradictory of the homey, cosy atmosphere you feel when you walk in. Everyone is experiencing hardship right now so would like to give the benefit of the doubt but the cake was dry and was offered to us, as takeout (of course), on a paper plate with a plastic sandwich bag over the top to tackle in the snow and ice with a dog in tow and 2 coffees. A brown paper bag would have been a simple, inexpensive option, which lead us to think there wasn't much consideration gone into the service offered. Two stars as the atmosphere was warming, the gentleman in the back came forward and was very lovely and the coffee was nice, however I will be taking my busines elsewhere to other independent coffee shops...
