A rather disappointing meal. I attended recently with my partner. The restaurant was very modern, staff friendly and attentative.
I ordered the lamp lollipops for starter. I got 3 small pieces of lamb dipped in mint sauce with a garnish and paid £8.00. The portion size was literally a mouthful, albeit the photographs on the webpage made them look much bigger.
I was torn between the lamb and Chicken for main, so opted for a selection of 3 which I thought was a good idea. I got a chicken dish, lamb, veg and dahl portion which came with all mains. All were disappointing.
They tasted watered down. If I'd not had a spice mix on the side, I couldn't have eaten them . My partner had lentil pakora starter which was nice. A veg curry for main and again this lacked taste. The paratha size about the size of my palm. A raita dip came with the main, again it was coloured yoghurt, nothing else. The veggie main was (as per photo) was priced at £15.00. The lamb curry was priced at 22 pounds. In comparison to other restaurants that have a far more extensive menu than 5 starters and 5 mains, this is way over priced.
It's evident that the dishes are pre prepared in the back, hence why one can't request mild/med/spicy or ask for it to be cooked in a certain way.
They owners tried to create a fine dining experience with fine dining prices, sadly in our opinion it wasn't the case. The dishes was tasteless and portion size was inadequate.
My partners heritage is punjabi and we eaten in many restaurants and encountered a variety of home cooking, sadly not to be experienced here.
This may appeal to those who are accustomed to British Indian Recipes, sadly the quality in the food experienced here was poor and in no way can be described as authentic.
I have read some of the previous comments on here. An accolade to winning a prize at Lancashire's Food and Drinks is by no way representative of food served 2 years later.
We wholeheartedly support local businesses, especially after the pandemic and hope they prosper. but the comments here are a true representation of our experience. Sadly we won't...
Read moreWe booked a table following reserve a table on the front page and got a confirmation table for 2 at 6pm Saturday.....all easy to do and looking forward to the meal. We had previously called in to the restaurant and despite empty tables been told it was best to book online to avoid disappointment. At 5.50 that changed when we got a call to say we didn't have a table as we were walking toward the restaurant we proceeded to see why the change. 1 young girls on the front desk did not have a clue. I must add the restaurant had a total of 6 people in it. As we didn't get any joy or explanation they went to get the "owner". Though the restaurant was empty we were told we could eat but had to be out by 7.15. The owner said she was fully booked and despite asking if someone with a later booking could be slightly moved were told no. Now I may have accepted the situation but we had done as her staff had instructed but no you dont book online now and miraculously the member of staff who told us to do so has left. We were offered a takeaway. Now we are from Liverpool and neither experience at this restaurant has been good not welcoming or apologetic for the failing of their booking system. This leads me to believe the owner actually doesn't like people from Liverpool or their accent or whatever. To be offered a takeaway and when asked were would eat it to get the shrug of her shoulders .....curry isnt exactly finger food. Never again this 0lace does not...
Read moreI visited here last week when visiting my family in Poulton. They had been recommended Dalvees before and we were not disappointed!
This food is some of the tastiest, authentic and well presented Asian food I have had, and it is no surprise it won top 100 Asian restaurants in the UK. The decor is very vibrant and colourful, with some original furniture dotted around the place.
The menu is fairly small which is different to most Asian restaurants, but it meant that we knew every dish was going to be exceptional. I went for the prawn starter and platter for main, and wow! What a eclectic mix of tastes and textures - i could tell the chef was passionate about what they did, just from the taste. I left it up to the chef to decide which curries to give me and I had a mix of lamb, chicken, and veg, with a spice pot to make it as spicy as I wanted, which was a nice touch.
My dad is also gluten free, and so its very difficult for him to find an Asian restaurant that caters to him, but they catered to him amazingly well and he really enjoyed his meal too.
To top it off, the owner and chef Seema Dalvi came out to chat with us afterwards and took such pride in her work which was really lovely to see.
Overall, we had a really lovely evening with some very tasty food. I cannot recommend this place enough if youre looking for an authentic, tasty Indian with a relaxed vibe. Thank...
