The Poulton Elk - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Borough of Wyre

We come to this restaurant frequently and we always arrive with high expectations and leave happy. The food is always cooked perfectly. The staff work extremely hard but they are always polite and extremely helpful and they have excellent knowledge of the menu. The management are professional and new staff are trained to a high standard. There is good staff retention and they make regulars feel welcome without alienating new faces.Tonight we have just come for a drink and a snack but yesterday myself and my husband brought our friends here to celebrate a birthday. The steaks easiy matched the taste of the high end restaurant down the road but arrived without a similar price tag. The chicken wings came as a three plate deal there were 10 pieces in all and arrived crispy & piping hot . The jacket potatoes were fluffy and hot and the salad was very fresh. We had a fruit salad to share as we had birthday cake at hom and again this was fresh and inclusive strawberrys, blueberries, banana and apple at under £50 for 5 people you just can't grumble( we don't drink alcohol but even if we had it would have been a further £10 max). Went to this weatherspoons yesterday as a cheap meal for Father’s Day with 5 other people.

I’ve been to a few different Wetherspoons a lot in the past and couldn’t fault it!

I received what can only be described as a child’s portion of chicken strip burger and chips. The barm was as small as a child’s barm with around 12 chips on my plate! Wouldn’t have liked to have seen the kids portion.

I do get the food is cheap, but for the amount of food you would like, that was ridiculous!

I ordered a garlic bread too! Which came and I could have likely frisbee’d it over the room, it was that hard. I could hardly cut it and there was likely little or no garlic used in the making of it!

One of the party ordered gammon and egg and received Ham and egg. When she questionned the waitress, she literally didn’t say anything apart from make a small grunt and walked off. We didn’t know if she was sorting the food out or speaking to someone! The original food wasn’t taken away either.

My Dad didn’t use his cutlery as it stank! He didn’t want to use it.

I think there was literally a complaint from everyone who had food!

Awful customer service. I asked for the curry in the chicken tikka masala meal to be substituted for the plain curry sauce (which is on the menu and is surely cheaper than the chicken tika) because I’m vegetarian and was told no with no explanation as to why not. I ordered something else instead and an order of hallumi fries which I asked to come out first so the table could share it as a starter. Instead it came out after all the entrees. Someone else at the table ordered a beyond burger with cheese. Didn’t come with cheese. When he pointed it out the waitress said it wasn’t put in as with cheese and if he wanted cheese they would need more money. A minute later I heard a server apologizing the the next table over for another mistake. I like Witherspoon but will certainly never return...
