We visited for mothersday and we were all very disappointed with the quality of the food. It was extremely busy and everyone was crammed in, so space was very limited. Several of our party ordered the garlic.mushrooms for our starters. These were very watery and didn't taste much of garlic. We had waited quite some time for our food to arrive so none of us complained, but each dish was the same. The mains were just as disappointing. 2 got hunters chicken and their chicken was like rubber. 2 got the roast, well the beef was just fat and chewy, the peas were like bullets, the roast potatoes were tiny but like rock, no fluffy potatoe inside, the cauliflower cheese was just in white sauce with no cheese present and finally the brocoli was frozen but tasted of freezer burn and springy when you tried to cut it. When we complained about the roast, the waiter just said ill get you another slice of meat. No I didn't want another slice thank you. I get it was mothers day and I get they were busy but this doesn't excuse the quality of the food you served up. We had a huge wait for the food to be delivered. Ive visited chapel.house in the past and their food had always been to a high standard but yesterday's visit was a huge disappointment.

In response to Amy's reply below... Thank you for your apology but why have you rubbished this by stating you had rave reviews, which sort of implies my review was wrong. The fact the table next to us sent their garlic mushrooms back due to dish being full of water and waited 20 minutes to receive its replacement confirms your chef had issues with this dish. You stated you wish I'd brought this to your attention, but i told the young male waiter. He saw the beef and agreed it was just full of fat. He also apologised for the delays we faced waiting for food and drinks, stating the restaurant has been rammed all day, implying you'd taken too many bookings.

I would have gladly accepted your apology if that's what you had written, but clearly your response was to try imply that my review was false by mentioning these so called "rave reviews". The fact no-one has published from mothersday except me...

It appears that quality decreases as prices increase (should be a law for that, inverse and disproportional).

Sunday I decided to treat my mother and wife to a Sunday lunch here. my wife chose the lamb shank which she thought was beautifully cooked and just fell off the bone. my mother and myself would have preferred beef but put off as the menu stated served pink, not to either of our tastes. we were about to chose the turkey, when the waitress stated the beef does not have to be pink,

so beef then - very wrong choice.

Both beef meals arrived with the beef as two thick (think steak) slices, this turned out to be the toughest and most gristley, tough rinded and sinew loaded piece of beef I have ever been served in a restaurant ( In this country ).

I can only assume that what was supposed to be sirloin roast was in fact the worst of the steak left over from steak night.

On the back of this when paying the bill the waitress (same) declared, I have given you a discount since you did not enjoy the beef. very generous until you consider they were buying back the beef.

Age: 59, 65 & 86

£13.99 pp for beef (X2) £15.49 for lamb, £ never look or asked, 2.5 pints peroni Must be pricey

Discount , unknown

Bill (after discount) £51.90, tip £0.00 Recommendation don,t & sack the butcher, the...

Mum's Birthday treat quite the disappointment. Starters, amazing. Service, good. Main course, terrible. Two mains seven with spinach, no where on the menu was it stated that the spinach was cooked in butter, even on the photos it was saved fresh. Very frustrating when restricted to specific diets and assuming no dairy was in the meal. Cooked spinach on garden salad also, combination of hot wet spinach with crunchy cold lettuce was rather revolting. Ploughman's medicare, served with a whole apple rather than sliced, inner crust of pork pie contained a huge chunk of uncooked flour. Usually a great experience, tonight was a complete disappointment. Server was very understanding and spoke to management, gave us a substantial discount. Overall incredibly underwhelming and something that had been planned for months. Such a shame. Mains actually came out immediately after starter plates were collected... it was obvious they had been sat under a hot plate for god knows how long. Was even stated by staff that he meal was rushed as chefs wanting to get home and had already left the building by this point.

Again, server staff...

This is a brilliant pub and well worth trying if you're local to the area. I'd say the most outstanding part is the service, very attentive, something which is lacking in pubs of a similar standard on the food front. The food was really good, and I especially enjoyed the chicken strips, as did my wife. We shared both starters and the sauce from the belly pork bites dish went down a treat for both dishes. This pub had the best of both worlds when it comes to atmosphere, as we entered, we were met by loads of people surrounding the bar having a great time. We then walked through the pub to the dining area, where it was more chilled out and relaxing, despite the hoards of people at the other end of the pub. I will definitely be visiting here again to try out some of their other food options!

Came for a late lunch, its following all the covid regulations, has decent parking and a large outside seating area overlooking a lovely old church. Inside is not bad either and the staff are friendly. We ordered drinks (which they forgot about, but no big deal), a starter of Cauliflower spicy wings, mains were fish and chips and a burger. The starter was tasty, but could've been crispy, the mains were fine, not amazing, but satisfactory. It just seemed the food had been cooked from frozen, not like it had been made from scratch, I might be wrong tho. Although the batter was crispy on the fish. The pub is part of a chain, so maybe they have the same menu in all their restaurants. In future, I'll give the food a miss, but I will come in for drinks, outside of course 😉

Came here a few times with work colleagues pre-Covid and haven't been back since but always enjoyed my visits. First time back after the pandemic and nothing's changed: still a great pub, with good food. The Friday evening I popped in for a few pints and some food on my way into Bradford didn't disappoint (apart from the limited range of real ales on tap so I switched to premium lagers) and the place was packed. Enjoyed the Chick Pea and Sweet Potato Curry which had a bit of kick to it (as it should have) with the additional sweet potato fries as a side. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Will aim to come again with others.
