Dhesi Grill — Restaurant in Bradford

Have visited dhesi grill for many many years was abit of a hidden gem in Bradford back in the days but over the years has become more popular and well known.

when I Have visited the food has been great but that’s in the past. In the more recent times I have been disappointed.

Overall I feel like food quality has gone down hill at dhesi grill used to provide top notch dhesi food but with the new menu and lots of continental dishes it’s not the same. Personally I think if your calling your self dhesi then stick to the ‘desi’ concept. The selection for curries is only Karahis no variety what so ever. There’s more selection of burgers then there is curries.

Also the portion size of the curries has gone smaller and the taste is none existent. We got the chicken tikka karahi definitely wouldn’t recommend. Did advise the staff of this but nothing was done.

Also they have stopped taking card payment last 2/3 times I have visited and this is EXTREMELY inconveniencing. It’s 2022 and even ice cream vans have card machines so a restaurant like this can’t have a card machine ? It really really ruins the experience for me as I’m never one to have cash on me then they expect you to go get cash out definitely a reason I wouldn’t go infact in our most recent visit I was close to leaving but thankfully by chance we had cash. Atleast accept bank transfer or PayPal if your not doing card payments.

Got a really dodgy stomach after visiting this recent time and so did my husband and he very rarely gets an upset stomach so we really won’t be visiting anytime...

I cannot rate this establishment more than 1*. First reason being they are extremely over priced for the food they serve. As you can get more or less the same cheap quality food, from other fast food places in Bradford for a fraction of the price. Secondly, it has to be one of the only places I have been to where there is no other option but to buy water. Like no free water. Even then the water bottles which were glass bottles, were not sealed, so i am assuming they are charging for tap water. This is non negotiable, of you want water you have no choice but to pay for it. Thirdly their customer service is not brilliant and the waiters have no idea as to how the food is prepared in the kitchen. So all in all if you want a decent meal where the premium price, and premium service are justified by what's on offer this is not the place. I have to finish on a positive though and this is perhaps down to the over pricing, the atmosphere is actually quite good. Its peaceful and there is none of the usual riff raff you find in Bradford eating here. Which is a huge bonus because let's face it, an annoying group of young lads with their Prada man bags being loud and boisterous is enough to ruin a good meal. But they good thing as mentioned, this place doesnt have any of that. But still that's not a good enough quality to get more than a 1star rating, because quality of food and service are...

I discovered Desi Grill in 2007 and it is the only restaurant I have ever been to where the food is as high a standard as what you would make at home. The service is also excellent whether you dine in, get a take away or use the delivery option. This was often the go-to take away for me after leaving work at 6pm in a place nearby. Maybe I started to go too often but I was able to make healthy choices because much of the food here is grilled (and at that time they didn't do so many desserts). I switched to home delivery after December 2011 and have used this since. It can get expensive here but I would rather get a high quality Desi Grill take away once a week than several unhealthier cheaper ones from elsewhere containing highly processed ingredients. My favourite curries here are the Nihari and Butter Chicken. But by far, the best thing on the menu is the salmon-an excellent source of Vit D and healthy omega 3 fats (that will help the Vit D absorb) . Salmon is easy to overcook but is always done to perfection here with just the right amount of seasoning but not too much to overpower the flavour...
