This park shows what's wrong with city of Bradford. Everywhere you go in this park you'll see signs that this ia not allowed. Yoi can't do that. You are not allowed to do this and that and dont forget about other things you think of now but you're not allowed anyway.
Why oh why toilets, public toilets, public toilets in public park are closed. And they not closed closed. They are surrounded by metal gates that are shut. Surprised that council haven't put armed guards with dogs around!
What was the reason for that? On my way ti park i saw dozens of wastebaskets overfilled with rubbish. And guess what? On each was little sign saying - having an issue with this bin? Contact council. Honestly? 🤦
This is really nice place to visit. This park. Views are amazing. Especially if you stand in top and you can see lower parts of this park. On todays visit, when it was so foggy and bit chilly, i loved it even more. Quiet, calm, you can lost your self in own thoughts walking in this park. It must look stunning in spring, summer, autumn.
But because public, and let me rephrase it PUBLIC toilets are shut and guarded, one star and lets hope council will get their minds iver what's important!
Great place, bad...
Read moreI've visited this park on and off for several decades now and find it a friendly place with reasonable facilities and variety. It has been well maintained over recent years with sculptured shrubs and beds, a renovated area around the hall, updated play area, and cafe on the lake. Cartwright hall is a large and classic building which dominates the centre of the park, built at the turn of the last century, and contains toilets, cafe, galleries and reception with a small gift shop. Like many council run facilities it's child friendly and free to enter and look around (as is the rest of the park). The park is a reasonable size, running alongside Bradford road with parking on side streets and small amount of disabled parking within the grounds. Paths are wide and tarmacked so gentle walk for pushchairs and wheel chairs although some paths have an incline. Kids playground contains modern equipment, a cafe on the lake and at peak times of year, boats are available for hire. Used for events at various times of year. A recent example being the lantern parade which was well attended and run, and well...
Read moreWe are visitors to Bradford, The play park was beautiful, the best park I've been to with my boys. Lots of different things to do for all ages , colourful , secure fencing. Brill .. but then we walked over to the boating lake where it became drab and dull , the boats were tatty and dirty so we didn't bother and instead walked around the lake which would have been lovely as there was lots of beautiful ducks and their ducklings but instead I found myself looking more at the bushes for the very brave rats that were coming onto the path right near us .. all in all I was at the lake 20 minutes and saw 9 rats off all sizes. I didn't even continue round the lake I turned back , having 2 young boys with me I felt they area was dirty and didn't want my boys touching what could have been touched by the rats. A Very dissapointing end to our visit. I wish I had photographed them and posted to the council however I doubt I'd be the only one as they were so free to come out it seemed almost the norm for them to be there. Spoils a lovely play area , sort it out whoever is responsible , I'd love to come...
