DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I recently attended a party at Jinnah as a guest.
Wasn’t too sure what to expect as we haven’t been here before.
As we are close to the hosts we arrived early was nice to see they have a private room for parties but we realised they have a swing in events room they are unable to remove which was very frustrating as it was extremely tight in the room they advise they have maximum capacity of 35 people but the room realistically fits around 20/25 people without a struggle.
Food was average starters seemed nice and fresh most enjoyable out of everything. Biggest disappointment was the samosa chaat we thought it was a chana chaat until advised it’s a samosa which we had no samosa in ours and it was so small it was served in a shot glass that’s not how you serve a samosa chaat it’s supposed to be one samosa per portion?!! Surely as a restaurant they know this ! . Also we requested another platter of starters just for the guy to pass us someone else’s platter rather than getting us a fresh one them starters had gone cold.
Mains were average the meat and chicken curry was nice the pilau rice HORRID. Don’t know what kind of rice that was supposed to be but it was absolutely awful don’t order a pilau from this place.
Desserts so the hosts ordered 3 desserts and the guy was coming in asking everyone which one they wanted rather than placing the desserts on the table and letting people choose for themselves leaving us to tell the hosts we want more of the desserts which then they had to chase up. Also all desserts were served in shot glasses extremely small portions.
What we really did notice is the service they’re trying to cut costs and save money and barely give food and being stingy it was very blatant and obvious, it looks so so bad and it makes it look bad on the hosts which is it none of there fault at times we assumed the food is limited. Honestly I wouldn’t recommend this place as they’re just trying to make quick money I won’t be visiting this place again many more places to choose from in Bradford, Shockingly bad in service. We were looking for a venue for our self’s as we wanted to host a party and was looking to book the marquee as we had over 100 people but we have decided against it after the visit to this party will be looking for another venue.
Pros: -Disabled friendly venue -Prayer room Separate party room
Cons: Room is for 25 people realistically not 35 as advised very tight in the room Service is bad Stingy on the food leaving people hungry Swing is an inconvenience Food is average Dont get your...
Read moreTo be clear it is 5 years since we last visited and we have experienced two superb meals back then. Finding ourselves in Bradford for an event we were keen to go back to Jinnah for another traditional Pakistani meal.
Busy during Ramadan and a party was on as well but we were ushered to our seats by 'uncle'. orders taken speedily but 'uncle' had to come back and double check the berbal order 5 times before it was finalised. I know we appeared to be an older white couple, we were asked for our preference of spice level for the main meal. I was happy with medium but my wife has lost much of her spice tolerance and requested a mild butter chicken for the main meal. This resulted in some amusement and jokey smirks.
The lamb chop starter was excellent...and you can judge a lot about a Pakistani restaurant from its lamb chops!! The chicken Pakoras also very good.
Sadly, from here it was all downhill. My chicken Keema was very average compared to the excellent versions I have enjoyed here many years ago. The quality of the chicken was not great, flavour a bit bland to be honest. Not a great example of one of my favourite dishes. Pilau very average indeed. However, my wife's 'mild' butter chicken was much hotter than my medium keema. For her it was inedible, and the chicken was also poor quality. We asked uncle why it was so hot when we ordered very mild. His laugh and patronising response was not encouraging. He whisked it away to produce another and told my wife 'try this we hope you enjoy this one'. It was the same chicken and all that had been done was the addition of a sweet korma or dhansak sauce to the dish. It was sweet but just as hot. He laughed as he left.
I ate my meal, my wife did not but we asked for it to be boxed for our son who is happy with very spicy meals. We got the packing boxes thrown at us and were left for 15 minutes before just packing it up ourselves and leaving. Rude does not cover it.
We know that 'uncle' just assumed we were two old white duffers who probably cant tell a good curry from a bad one. However he was wrong. My wife's father was born and grew up in Jhelum. We eat proper home cooked Pakistani food week in week out and both my wife and I can cook better traditional Pakistani food than we had today. Yes we left angry, mostly we left hungry, and no we will never return. Shocking service, poor food, nothing traditional or authentic about this restaurant, food or service. 'Uncle' absolutely let his...
Read moreWe decided to try out Jinnah as it was recommended from friends who had been there before and also we wanted to try somewhere different in Bradford since we are spoilt for choices. First impressions was the restaurant had a nice setup and we were greeted by the main boss who seemed friendly. We did book our table in advance and we did request for a table with a booth over the phone and the lady said it wouldn't be a problem. When we arrived we were given a table which seemed very cramped and close to the table next to it as there were 6 of us. When asked about the table with a booth they said that it was only available for 10 people at which point the boss didn't seem interested to give us one of them as there were 6 of us. I felt the boss could have helped us a bit more or showed a bit of sympathy but the impression I got was because they were going through a busy period that evening being a Saturday, no effort was made at all. It was a matter of take the table you are given or just leave if you want.
However once we settled down and came to terms with where we were sat we placed our order with the help of the lovely friendly chap who served us who practically chose our food. We ordered a starter tawa which was a healthy portion and we really enjoyed it. Everything came nice and hot, the masala fish was juicy as well as the seek kebabs and chicken boti.
We ordered 2 lamb karahi for the mains. One on the bone and one off the bone and wow it was flavoursome. The naans were piping hot and freshly done in the tandoor as you would expect. Overall, it was worth the trip but they did overcharge us for the drinks as they added more on the receipt which we didn't order or have. I know mistakes do happen but the staff need to check with the customer sometimes especially when we ordered more drinks after we placed our original order. For the boss not making that slight extra effort when we first sat down as we were not happy about the table at first, and overcharging us with an extra drink we didn't have, I felt I had to remove 1 star which I think is fair. In all honesty I would go back again given the...
