This place was highly recomneded to us. We travelled from London and I can say the East End greasy spoons are more family friendly than this place!
Where do I start? On entrance we were seated with our large group (7 adults 4 infants/children) in an area by the staff entry/exit to the service area, very tight spacing between our backs of seats and their entry and exit with hot/cold food/drinks, rather dangerous considering we had young children seated with us.
Food was passed from one point of the table OVER/BETWEEN A 10 MNTH OLD!!! IMAGINE HOT DRINKS SPILLING OVER THE GUESTS???? Seems the waitress couldnt be bothered to tend to each person seperately.
I ordered the full halal english breakfast. I was missing one item (even though it was on menu) ordered wholemeal toast got burnt White... burnt side was deliberately put on the underside when presented the food. Food was presentation was poor. Asked for Latte received milky warm coffee.
Noted the coffee cup wasnt clean as had lipstick from the previois user on it.
Cutlery was not cleaned to a good standard, water marks were clearly visible.
Child (9mnth old) sat in highchair next to me dropped food and while we were eating I noticed something in the corner of my eye as I turned and below me between the high chair and my feet was a waitress cleaning the floor? Allow us to finish pur meal first!
Not to mention the constant side eyes the waitresses were giving - seems to be some sort of thing... making female guests feel uncomfortable for whatever reason.
Not child or large family friendly at all considering the extensive large families us Asians have.
Overall - overpriced, unprofessional, overrated place - I guess that showed as the place was largely empty when we arrived.
Sorry guys, I dont recommended your setting, food, professionalism, cleanliness, hygiene, and the behaviour of your waitresses.
Can confirm we definitly wont be returning!

Read moreI have been here many times over the last couple of years, overall the experience has been good, it is a pretty place to come for a birthday lunch or meal and they have a live pianist playing all week. I have had the following items off the menu:
•Desi afternoon tea for 2, this includes 2 samosas, 2 Kathi rolls (seekh kebab wraps), 2 spring rolls, 2 scones with clotted cream and jam, 2 cupcakes, 4 macarons and 2 chocolates. This comes with 2 teas of your choice in a cute little teapot or a cup of doodh Patti
I really enjoyed the savoury elements and found them quite filling, the scones tasted fresh and the chocolates were lovely, we had 2 different flavours, one was a truffle filling and the other was a nut one, there was a chocolate cupcake and a strawberry one unfortunately they tasted of the fridge so that ruined them for me not very fresh tasting I'm afraid, lastly the macarons were okay, I will say they have improved on the fillings over the years as previously I could only taste butter, they are better now but I have had much better ones and these pale in comparison. The tea was lovely.
•Fish and chips with buttered bread, white or brown, mushy peas and tartare sauce
I love Pearl's fish and chips and can't fault it, it's a good sized portion, the fish is crispy and fresh tasting, they have changed the chips and i did actually prefer the rustic ones they used to do but the recent ones were nice as well.
•Lamb chops
The lamb chops were nice, not my favourite as I like mine spicier but I think many people would enjoy these as I do eat spicier food than most, these come with a salad and a side of your choice.
•Moroccan lamb burger
This was a lamb patty with salad, cheese and a salsa sauce in a pink bun, it was one of the first things I tried off their menu and i did enjoy it.
Do try their fresh orange juice and their dry ice mojitos, they taste good...
Read moreWe popped into Pearls for breakfast en-route to Manchester after hearing positive comments about the place. The decor is quite nice, chic. You can see they took the “inspiration” from Betty’s. We ordered the full English as well as egg Benedicts for breakfast. The food itself was decent. English breakfast is recommended. Downside is for the price other places do give tea but here it’s an added cost. Couple of our drinks we were told last minute they can’t make them due to an ingredient being out of stock (this was before 12pm! The ingredient in question is available in every grocery shop!).
We ordered desserts which we waited for a while before enquiring where they were to be told the order didn’t go to the kitchen! Once they arrived we were once again told last minute one of the deserts we ordered were out of stock. They’re overpriced for what they were. The little 70p chocolates weren’t special either.
Given the situation the world is with COVID -19 the place lacked in measures. First off the sanitiser at the front was empty. All the tables were very very close together so extremely difficult to be kept socially distanced from other diners (most places we’ve visited since lockdown ended have removed seating and/or closed off tables to allow distancing) majority of staff weren’t wearing masks and the ones that were weren’t even covering their nose (might as well not wear it!) also the staff that we could see all seemed on edge, never saw anyone smile. Odd.
This place has the right idea. Just the execution was not great. It certainly deserves another chance in the future. Maybe we just came on a “off” day where they weren’t in the mood. Saying that though the distancing measures should be taken seriously regardless considering Bradford does have high cases of...
