I have given 4 stars because of price and convenience, if it didn't have that i would have probably given 2 stars. Go here on a weekly basis and would either order a burger or pizza with a pint and for less than £8, it's not a bad deal at all. However, pretty much every time i have ordered a burger the meat is usually burnt on the outside (i must have ordered over 100 over the years) and nearly perfectly cooked on the inside (sometime they are dry too). Now i like a char on a burger just like the next person, but it seems like the either have the flat top (i presume they are using a flat top) on too high or they are prepping the burgers before hand and double cooking them. Also their buns were either perfect, dry or tasted like they have just come out microwave as they were hard around the edges and dry. Either way i have stopped ordering the burgers, although i go back to them every now and then, just to see if anything has changed.....inevitably it hasn't. As a general rule now, i usually go for pizza. They looks like they are hand stretched, as every pizza is a different size and shape (they are meant to be 11" and i would say that they have ranged from 10" to 13") and most of the time they are OK. I say OK because of the fact the base itself is quite inconsistently cooked and i am not sure if this is due to the fact they don't have the pizza ovens on all the time or some other reason. Examples of base inconsistently cooked: Burnt crust all over, but the bottom towards the center of the pizza not cooked through. Burnt crust on one side, bottom perfectly cooked Prefect crust, bottom towards the center of the pizza not cooked through. Prefect crust, bottom towards the outside burnt, but bottom center cooked
This is just a few variations i have received and it's not even consistent for the other people on the table who order pizzas at the same time, as one would get a perfectly cooked pizza, another would get a burnt crust and another would get perfect pizza but not cooked through on the bottom towards the center. Either way, it's a fairly decent price for a pizza and pint in Ilkley and most of the...
Read moreJust come from having breakfast at the Lister Arms, at the cost of food you are lead to not expect amazing quality but not only was the food dismal but so was the service. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We ordered a traditional breakfast and eggs benedict with a side of mushrooms and tomatoes and a coffee each. As I was getting myself and my husband a coffee I noticed the cutlery to the side of the coffee machines so I helped myself only to have the server later bring me some and roll their eyes at us when they saw we already had it. Not long after waiting for our food we were told that we couldn't have poached eggs with the eggs benedict due to them not having any poached eggs but we could have fried eggs, obviously we now know that the poached eggs must be delivered that way and not totally preped and poached on site. Due to my husband not wanting fried eggs on eggs benedict he asked if he could swap his meal totally, the young woman serving us had to ask if this was an option, as he was allowed he asked for an American breakfast only to be told he could only have a small one as a swap so we asked if he could have a normal sized one and we would pay the difference, again the server had to ask so she went away to find ourt only to not return with an answer. After 10 minutes of waiting my husband went to the bar to find out what we could do, after explaining to the bar staff what was happening as they didn't have a clue he paid the difference for a normal American breakfast. Now the food arrives with no sides that my husband wanted, when questioned the server explained that they had been added to the traditional breakfast even though they had been ordered as extra sides separately to the breakfast. Now back to the quality of the food, the majority of the traditional breakfast was left on the plate due to it all being slimey and tasting like plastic and the america breakfast wasn't much better with the pancakes being more like hockey pucks. All in all a terrible experience with food and service in a The...
Read moreA Wetherspoon pub We were able to park quite easily in the Ilkley centre car park . Charges apply except for blue badge holders. It’s a busy car park !! On approach to the Listers arms there was a double doorway and the doors were fastened back . There’s another set of doors a few feet inside . These are mainly glass and I had to have help with these .Once inside I was able to move along to the bar and a table selected for us .I was able to sit comfortably here and not block any walkways. One thing to note is there are at least two other floor areas that I couldn’t access due to having steps up We noticed that Wetherspoon have an app which you can download and you can enter whatever your menu requirements are and pay too ! We went to the bar and drinks were delivered fairly quickly. When the food arrived it was hot and tasty .No complaints there. I am still pinching myself at the LOW cost of beer . The disabled toilets were away from the main conveniences .To access them required a visit to the bar to ask for a RADAR key . Fortunately I have my own .The only downside for me was the fact there was a baby changer in there too !!However even with that on the wall I was able to turn around inside the room(just). The hot air dryer is a little bit awkward to get to when moving a wheelchair whilst having wet hands. Would I go again ?Absolutely !! 5 of us fed and watered for under £40 . Definitely worth the trip.Note for Wetherspoon !! No point in having the W app if the signal inside the premises isn’t...
