Exceptional atmosohere with plenty of parking around, you can park either in the decent size car park or on street parking is also an option with easy access to Darwin Gardens. They also have plenty of seating provided with tables for eating/picnics even though it was a busy day today with nice weather and the easter holidays. The only bad point was we didnt see many bins around for throwing our rubbish away. Overall a great place to visit for a day out ๐Ÿ‘P.S - the ice cream van served fresh yorkshire dales ice cream which was one of the best ice creams we ever had. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Great little free car park close to the moors and cow and calf rock. Even has a few benches for picknicking and a bit of a park ay area. All good for a day out but fills up quick on a Sunday

Nice public space with a good variety of native plant and tree species. The maze is fun for the kids - they can't get lost because it is a paved maze. Parking is free! Right next to Ilkley moor, so easy walk to the Tarns, White Wells and beyond. The paddling pool is accross the road and is a lot more user friendly now that there is a decent silt trap. It's a 15 minute walk down into the town centre (uphill on the way back). Charles Darwin doesn't seem to spend much time here anymore. There is a small wildlife pond and a lively moorland stream. There are no public toilets here. Nearest public toilets are at White Wells and the railway station. Popular with families and dog walkers which leads to the inevitable ritual of cleaning dog poo from children's shoes. There is of course an interesting selection of small plastic bags with bits of dog poo inside. I have yet to work out the attraction of this art form, but it seems popular all over the country. If the car park is full, there is free parking on the road and another car park up the hill on the left, at the start of the main path up to...
