The Manor House Eccleshill — Restaurant in Bradford

Bit of a mixed bag tonight, which makes a review difficult to write. However, I'll try and show the two sides.

So first off, the food. Overall it was lovely! We all ate from the light bite menu, and really enjoyed most of what we had. The garlic mushroom starters were absolutely amazing, and I could have easily had another two portions of that (just being greedy!). Then the mains, again, couldn't fault them - and a shout out to the chips that were absolutely melt in the mouth and seasoned before they came to the table. Two of the three desserts were of a similar standard, with no complaints from either the person with the sticky toffee pudding, or the chocolate cake. This would have been a five star meal based solely on the food except the third dessert, the apple crumble, had a really bad and stale taste and smell. The sort you get when something has been in the freezer too long, or hasn't been covered properly. One spoonful and that was it, it couldn't be eaten. However, that was one dish out of 8. So pleased don't let that put you off, as we will definitely be going back because when it was good it was really good!

Staff.... The lady who served us was lovely and couldn't have been nicer. The receipt says it was Andrea, though I don't know if that's accurate, but she deserves some recognition for her work tonight. She was helpful, smiling, accomodating, apologetic - after the dodgy dessert - and thoroughly professional. It was just a shame that everyone else couldn't take a leaf from her book, especially given how busy the place was as it would have made things easier all round if they had been.

Speaking of busy, it really was busy. And loud. There was a birthday party in, and there was a football match on the TV that had some very.... Enthusiastic.... fans watching. The screams and cheers each time their team did something they approved of, wasn't something I enjoyed. However the place itself was really clean and tidy, and you could see the staff were working hard to keep on top of everything.

So as I said, a mixed bag tonight. But somewhere I'll definitely revisit and try again and...

I attended on the 9th March for a Mothers Day booking as a party of six. The food was well presented but nothing special and my meal was bland and a very small portion for the cost. At the conclusion of our meal we were not offered any deserts which all of us wanted so I had to request a desert menu which was then provided. After selecting our chosen deserts we patiently waited and then waited some more for the waitress, any waitress to take our orders but that didn’t happen so we gave up, paid the bill and left. If the restaurant had been exceptionally busy it might have been understandable why we weren’t approached in a timely manner but that wasn’t the case, the restaurant was virtually empty. So the conclusion is six customers left dissatisfied with the experience at this restaurant and the business missed an opportunity to make further profits from their paying customers. This is the second occasion now where the service has fallen below par, the previous occasion I found bits of plastic in my food which was brought to the attention of a staff member at the time. A restaurant succeeds or fails on its quality of food, service, atmosphere and reviews, please teach your staff to be attentive to...

Been here, a few times now, but this time was absolutely disappointed with everything from Service to food

I thought it would be busy with it being Easter weekend but there were only 3 tables when we arrived . The table was booked knowing we needed a high chair which we asked for when we arrived after waiting 15 minutes I went to get the highchair myself

It took so long for someone to come take our order. I thought the process had changed and we needed to go to the bar. Bearing in mind, it wasn’t busy at all

One of our party went to the bar and asked how the beef is served on the dinner. If it was pink or not, the response he got was I don’t know I have never eaten it. 🫣

All the meat across the six adults wasn’t great quality at all very tough , hard to cut with a knife The chicken actually smelt off on the hunters chicken

The staff really didn’t seem to care or show any urgency to the service across the restaurant. The young girl just said oh I will tell the chef (no sorry) then came back and just said do you want another ( baring in mind we had been sat for 20 mins waiting for plates to be cleared )...
