Dead place with no matilda cake
Guys. What is this hype that bradfordians are obsessing over ? It actually is not insane on any level
Story time- want the long or short ? Ok, short story, the place is located in a certified dump.
The little premise is actually aesthetically pleasing on the inside once the shock of the outside dump subsides. But omds, so so cold 🥶
More to the story... I ordered a kunafe brownie, school cake with a matilda hot choc and standard tea. 😵💫 regretting my life choices at this point. So the girl serving appears rather efficient and pleasant. No probs there, but then comes in another girl, who proceeds to... lump and dump the 2 sweet treats together in the same cheap cardboard box. Bearing in mind, we were going to consume it there. So, in one box, 2 different items 🤨 what was she thinking !??!?
Idk who these ppl are that would want to fish around in a bag, then in a box to actually access a brownie/cake. And eat a school cake with brownie kunafe crumbs, or a brownie with cake crumbs and then all the crumbs mixing together and just 🤢
The school cake was cheap tasting, gave the sweet hit, but that is all. The vanilla sponge flavour did not come through and you carry on searching for a flavour besides the sugar.
Kunafe brownie- the kunafe itself is quite crunchy and nice, but the brownie is not freshly baked and shop bought, then the kunafe is just dumped on top. Don't expect any homemade treats here. Except maybe the matilda cake, which was sadly absent so unable to give an opinion. Hot chocolate, is just the same quality as you would get in a hospital vending machine. 😬 and I suppose that is the theme as everything is in disposables.
Oh, and the tables are so so tiny that would only accommodate one cup and one box (no plates) but they are a few haphazardly scattered around.
Avoid avoid avoid
Crap parking, crap service, crap products. Not worth the money at all... low quality on every level.
2 minus stars if there...
Read moreUpdating my review: Visited a year later and the atmosphere is much difference. There were 4 staff members behind the till and when we walked in there was just weird looks and an awkward silence. No one was friendly or welcoming which I suppose is the standard for Bradford. It's a shame as the baking is clearly fresh and was honestly faultless but the service just makes me not want to come back. Sort it out!!
I visited here quite apprehensive from other reviews citing an uninspiring aesthetic and rude staff.
The aesthetic and vibe is unmatched to anywhere in Bradford. You go from the run down streets of White Abbey and feel like you've been transported to a street in Milan. The attention to detail and atmosphere is unparalleled and unique to anywhere i've been in surrounding areas.
The staff were all female. Well presented and polite. Patient and catered to every customer's order. I'm glad any element of rudeness has been ironed out as I have no complaints.
The cakes themselves are high quality and freshly made. You don't feel like you're eating some defrosted subpar rubbish as you do at other places claiming they sell "MATILDA CAKE".
The San Sebastián was average and the sauce provided was a small portion. It was reasonably priced however.
The Matilda cake was soft, moist and fudgy (which is a hard consistency to get when baking anything chocolate) but they knocked it out the park! I wasn't a massive fan on the Matilda sauce as it resembled more of a custard texture to myself, however this tasted rich and homemade... again away from any artificial junk.
The seating inside is limited but I believe bradford is making a shift from eating out with drive-thrus and takeaways taking precedence.
I am not sure if I would visit here again, everything was clearly homemade and fresh which is excellent but there's nothing drawing me back. I would however recommend anyone to try it and to experience...
Read moreWhat can I not say about this place. From the customer service, to the aesthetically pleasing layout of the shop. Some of the most professional and well mannered staff I have ever come across and not to mention the whole vibe of the place. You are greeted with smiles and cheerful people which I was grateful to see as sometimes you don’t really have that in other bakeries. I am most definitely pleased with this place as it is place I can bring my family to without having any problems of interacting with rowdy and loud people, which is absolutely amazing if you want to bring your wife or sister down with you. With this place you can have that peace of mind in a way that you don’t have to worry about bringing your wife’s, mothers and sisters and just your family in general. I have a really sweet tooth so I’m really big on desserts and can I say the food is exquisite. Every bite makes you want to indulge more and more and that’s not just the cakes that they have to offer. Even the cookies and brownies they serve on the menu were immaculate. I am also a very big coffee fan and really picky wen it comes to coffee but wow let me tell you the iced coffee and warm coffee they have to offer we’re just thirst quenching. I don’t think I have ever had a better beverage than what this little bakery shop has to offer, it is to die for and I can more than happily drink it everyday without getting sick of it. Overall I would say my experience at this shop was astonishing and words can’t describe how good it is. You won’t understand until you go and try it for urself so for anyone who is bored of seeing the same old desserts in bakery shops and are looking for something new, fresh and unique then this place is most definitely the place for you. P.S. Try the kinder Matilda cake and you’ll thank...
