Hadn't been in since the pub had changed management. It was not very appealing in the past. Thought we'd give it another chance. Not alot has changed. The cask ale (Timothy Taylor landlord) was quite flat. Poor. Person on bar was stressed out as there was an issue with till. She was quite abrupt and rude. Its not the ot the customer's fault! Failed customer service! She needs some training on coping with these situations. We won't be rushing back. Two positive consolations 1) nice beer garden 2) dog friendly. We didn't eat but had atmosphere been different we may have! It's in an area where there is potential for it to be a booming business especially in summer months. It's close to canal with walkers, cyclists, barges (holiday makers) and a marina, there's a couple of new housing estates. Need to work on ambience and giving a warm welcome, better staff attitudes and marketing around the canal bank/marina. Felt the clientele were regulars but not many! Read moreThis was our regular pub since 2012 and we've seen three ownership changes. It's now owned by a chain that fully refurbished the pub and recently introduced food service.
Unfortunately the chain relies on staff rotation surfing between their pubs and when we visited were indifferent 😐
We ordered two Sunday roasts that were tasty but failed to properly enjoy it due to lack of friendly service and the fact that I had to dine sit on an uncomfortable stool 😕
