Having been a regular diner at this pub for a number of years, It is such a shame to see this pub go downhill. What has happened to this place...?
There has been a change of management in recent months and things have gone downhill massively. The food used to be lovely and we always enjoyed our visits but now the food is of a poor quality and very inconsistent. Perhaps there is new chefs but whatever the excuse it needs sorting.
We first experienced a change in standards in March. After complaining to a dumpy arrogant lad who apparently thought he was 'the Manager' we started to understand why on a Friday night it was like a ghost town compared to how busy it was a few months previous. Maybe a lesson in customer care might improve his attitude. He seemed more interested in walking around with a chip on his shoulder and telling off staff than serving customers or ensuring the food being served was edible.
When we were in last, about 2 weeks ago, the service hadn't improved at all nor had the food. We waited 50 minutes for our meals and when they did arrive, I would have rather eaten dog food than the slop they tried to serve us. The same idiot ( who we found out was called Mark) was serving on the till and we were intrigued where they had picked him up from as we laughed and thought a trained monkey could do a better job than he did. He was so slow and we waited 15 minutes to place our order. When he eventually took our order he was very patronising and even insulted my husband with a comment he felt was amusing. He needs getting shut off before he destroys the place.
This place had improved so much over recent years and we were frequent diners but don't think we will be returning again.
The company should take these reviews seriously as this place is going downhill fast and seemed to be quieter every time we went in.. Does this not say something.
It is such as shame as it is such a beautiful pub from the outside. My advise would be save your money and go to the Hitching Post or Wrose Bull for cheaper, better quality...
Read moreAppalling... Bad service... Bad food.... And way over priced. Thought last meal out for ages... But to be remembered for all the wrong reasons Went in for a Burger as that is good to be fair... Sold out!!!!... Which left the dull menu... Went for the Lamb and Hunters Chicken, both far from good LAMB...where to start... Apparently with a red wine jus... Nope just gravy no hint of red wine.... Even rosemary would have helped!.... Dauphinoise potatoes... Not even a hint of garlic... And should be heavy in it, .... Plus like mush... Gran would have liked them... Some carrots OK... Others raw (try making them the same size) Chicken.. The triple cooked chips were so greasy couldn't get the taste out of your mouth.. And should have come with an apple chutney, according to the menu... . Nope missing, and as we were unable to flag down a waitress the meals stayed so. Had to go to the bar to ask for another drink due to to lack of service.. (not supposed to) Was never asked what we thought of the meal... Waitress would be better in Mcdonalds.. Maybe trained there? Over all rubbish and £38 lighter, should have left and had a takeaway... Thanks G and D for a last memorable night for all the Wrong reasons... As teacher would say... Could do a lot better...
On the response... Well proves you have missed the point, the food provided was substandard... But you just focused on the reason for no burgers???... It is way over priced for the quality... If you say it on a menu you should...
Read moreVery disappointed in the way I was treated at what has been my local pub for many years. Despite being a loyal customer, I was TOLD I had to move from an unreserved table, whilst having a drink simply to make way for diners. When I politely declined I was confronted by a bar manager and then the pub manager who falsely claimed I’d raised my voice to a member of her staff. The staff were rude and ultimately asked me find another pub to drink in. It is clear that the pub values the money from diners over long standing regulars. I’ve contacted Vintage Inns on multiple occasions with no response. Sadly this place no longer values loyalty or basic customer service.
UPDATE IN RESPONSE:
Thank you for your response. I do want to clarify that while one of your team members may have become upset, at no point did I raise my voice or behave in a rude or disrespectful way. I calmly expressed that I felt the customer service I received was poor, which I still believe was a fair comment under the circumstances.
It feels as though my concerns have been dismissed and reframed in a way that doesn’t reflect the actual interaction. What’s most disappointing is that a customer can be treated this way and then told they are the problem for calmly standing their ground.
I had hoped for a fair and balanced resolution, but unfortunately this experience has only further confirmed my...
