Such a shame as the food was lovely, and large portions, but we couldn't ignore the issues when we visited for lunch. An hour wait for food (with no one checking on us, explaining or apologising for the wait the whole time), and when it did finally come we spoke with the staff and explained that we would have appreciated a heads up if the kitchen was backed up or if there was an issue, we were told "the kitchen wasn't backed up when you placed the order". Considering it was scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast, chips and hash browns, we just can't wrap our heads around that. Frustratingly we then continued to wait for the other dish (Avocado on toast) only to be told (once we went to check) that the order had never been put through, as it had to be "rewritten for the kitchen" and then "missed off the order". We complained, and they took the drinks off of the bill. Another couple sat near us had the same issue of waiting nearly an hour for their food, so it wasn't just our table. I appreciate kitchen's can get slammed, and mistakes happen, but some communication and apologies would've helped us make some decisions as we had two small children with us and one of us needed to leave for work. Came away frustrated and...
Read moreWhat a lovely little cafe this is. We pop in regularly on Saturday morning market days. Fabulous hot chocolate and marshmallows. However, today we had booked an afternoon cream tea. We are not exaggerating when we say this is one of the best we have had. So nicely presented on a two tiered slate plate stand. Good selection of freshly made sandwiches with delightful ample fillings and fresh salad. We loved the vinaigrette dressing. The cheese scones were equally nice. Then you get to the top tier - (the naughty boy and girl area). Wow, what a selection of cakes - chocolate brownie’s, viennese wearl’s, finger almond cream muffins and finally delicious fruit scones, fresh cream and strawberry jam. It was a really nice touch to have fresh strawberries decorating this top tier if the stand. We suspect everything was home made because if the taste and look. The pots of tea were equally as good. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. If we could give a higher score than (5) our scoring would be 12 out of 10. I think that...
Read moreThe best Full English Breakfast I have ever eaten! FACT! Everything was cooked to perfection, presentation amazing and the food served hot. It's a 10 from Len Having ventured into Swaffham for its brilliant market, we stopped by The Market Cross. Outside was very busy with customers taking advantage of the break in the English weather. Myself, my wife and our two doggies got comfortable in the corner. As it was extremely busy my wife went up to the counter to make it easier, but the wonderful Kay, said take a seat and we'll be with you. A matter of minutes later our order was taken and around 10-15min later we were eating. We even returned later for coffee and cake. I recommend the lime &...
