Went for a lunch here for my birthday. We were initially very impressed by the open space and cosy seating as well as the wide variety of options available on the menu. We enquired whether the panini's were gluten free. The staff weren't sure so asked the manager who had to show them a file listing all of the foods with allergen information, which they didn't know about. This was concerning given how dangerous some foods can be for those with allergies. My friend ordered a panini and when it arrived the member of staff said that they weren't sure if it was the right one and think they had got it wrong. They proceeded to then open the sandwich with her bare hands whilst saying 'do you mind if I have a look'? as they lifted up the bread and brie to check. She walked off to redo the panini as they'd got it wrong and when bringing the new one back they were touching the sandwich again whilst walking back when it was on the plate! Their hands looked grubby and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. This did not fill us with any confidence that our food had been prepared to food safety standards. The staff member was very rude towards us and argued against us getting a refund as we were not happy with eating the food due to the next to nothing food hygiene we had witnessed. We had to ask twice to see the manager who did not seem keen to come out to speak to us. When explaining what had happened to the manager they turned to the staff member and said 'you shouldn't really touch customer's food'.... There's no really about it!!! Would never go back again and would recommend the staff undertake food safety training and a class in customer service skills,...
Β Β Β Read moreI really enjoy visiting Margaret's with my little boy. They have a good range of food available (ready to eat and freshly made to order) and lots of yummy cakes and treats. They offer good coffee and other hot drinks as well as juice and pack up lunches for the kids. Nice cafe area for the non-playing guests but for the families who want to play there's a separate room with an indoor play area in. For 2 pounds you can spend an hour in there (still has tables and chairs for eating) with your little ones as they entertain themselves on the indoor play equipment and with the range of toys provided. The food is always great, the staff always friendly and the play area always kept up well. They've recently installed a different slide from the old spiral slide which my kid is very pleased about as he was always too wary of the tunnel slide to use it! Strongly recommended for a visit for kids up to...
Β Β Β Read moreExtremely disappointed. My husband and I went in for breakfast and ordered a full English and eggs Benedict having previously enjoyed a breakfast here. I waited almost half an hour for a hot chocolate. And a total of an hour for our breakfast to come out, we had customers coming in after us with their food being served before us. Once our breakfast arrived we were both disappointed. My eggs Benedict was just bad; bread was soggy, eggs were over cooked next to boiled and bacon over cooked with far too much Hollandaise Sauce. My husbands breakfast was also terrible; bacon was cold, backed beans were piping hot, sausages were pink and eggs were again over cooked, hash browns were soggy and wet. We would have complained but after waiting so long we were so hungry and just wanted to leave. I very much so doubt we will...
