Strangest experience from the rudest women barmaid. My first time coming into this pub (and last) to have a quick drink in the sun with my partner and son. But the bar maid refuses to serve me saying I’m barred, when I explained this must be wrong I have never been here to drink nor am I barred from anywhere she still refused, asked for my whole name and where I lived right in front of a SILENT (awkward) bar of people. When it clicked that I didn’t tick all her boxes she said she will go out back to look for the photograph of ‘me’🤣 when there was no photo she was hostile and said she will serve me but will be keeping a close eye on me… So she either served someone who she thought was barred or treated an innocent person with disrespect from her own lack of organisation (the latter) My parter saw this upset me so when he walked into the bar she was also rude to him ‘No need, I know what you two are drinking!’ strange entitled behaviour! When he stated she didn’t have to humiliate me in front of people she said how she apologised (lie) and how we didn’t have to stay! Okay so either we get treated as if we were guilty of something we didn’t do or we leave… Don’t know why we thought to try the red lion as a change from the greyhound! Learning tips, get your ‘barred’ pictures up then you may stand a chance in not being an unorganised and rude barmaid. When you have got something completely wrong actually say sorry then you could even treat someone...

If you want attitude, and the land land to moan at you this is the pub for you!||Visiting Swaffam with a group of friends, we thought we’d give the Red Lion a go for a few drinks as had spent the previous evening in the Greyhound.||The lady who served us was great, but then it all went south.||One of our group dropped a pint on the floor, to which I offered to clean it up as it was accidental. The land lady lost her cool, started mumbling words to my response, well just leave as we didn’t like attitude, and the professional that she was started mouthing back at us.||The pub was happy to take our £80/£90 we spent on a round of drinks….||We left, and went back to the Greyhound which is a 1 minute walk who had been called by the red lion to advise them not to let us in as we’d smashed the pub up! Comical comes to mind.||Explained what happened, we’re let in to the Greyhound and spent the rest of the evening there and Sunday! Needless to say you can imagine what we spent and what she lost because of her poor attitude and lack of customer service.||Accidents happens, but the way she spoke to us….. wow!||Even one of the locals in the red lion said don’t speak up she’ll only get the hump!||Surprised he still drinks there!||You’ll see from her comments she doesn’t like negative/constructive feedback so that...

Dropped in midway through a rainy bike ride on my tod and I was promptly sat on a lovely table next to a fish tank, which gave me some company. The service was quick, friendly and attentive and the food was excellent, affordable and satisfying. The menu is standard pub-grub fare and I went for the gammon steak and egg with a baked potato and a salad. The gammon was hot, salty and succulent. The chef put pomegranate seeds in the salad which which shows an unnecessary (and appreciated) attention to detail. Could have done with a pat of butter for the potato though. The bar-lady looked at me all bug-eyed when I asked if I could have a scoop of ice cream with an espresso on top but I understand it's an unusual request. Still, she did it with patience and good humour and I slurped it up happily. I haven't had an impromptu gammon lunch so good in my life and I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants well-made English pub fare, with friendly service, at a great price.

Very poor service As we were a group of 6 they but us in the bar rather than the resteraunt. Our orders very taken quite quickly but then they, brought out the children's meals a good 20 minutes before everyone's else, so they were eating before the rest of us and it was a good 45m since we got there that the food came out, one at a time. However the food was very nice, but the service after was abysmal and after we had paid it took a while to get a receipt. It seemed like as we weren't in the main restaurant they slightly forgot about us.

The food in here is incredible. I had the bacon cheese and mushroom burger from the specials board, which is one of the top ten burgers I've ever eaten, and it came with some amazing grooved chips, almost like a cross between a chip and a crisp, and a lovely salad as well. I stay away in hotels a fair amount of time and the food in here puts a lot of hotel restaurants to shame. Lovely helpful lady called Kirsty behind the bar too. Lots of alcohol free options too, handy if you're on the wagon or driving. Highly recommended.
