Wonderful lunch had at the Merrymeade Tea Rooms recently. I had the half sandwich and soup, which was delicioius. Carrot and Coriander homemade soup with half a sandwich with a choice of fillings, I went for the chicken and bacon half sandwich on granary brown bloomer bread, which was all freshly made to order and home-made soup too. I sat inside first to have lunch there as it was a hot day then moved outside, where is a large patio area and also more seating on the grass. Dogs are welcome and there is a disable access with disable toilet access too. Outside on the ground, there were many benches with sun umbrella to keep cool underneath and be highchairs and also on a warm sunny day, plenty of shade to sit under. There was free water available for guests to help themselves and also bowls of water for your doggies. Different teas and coffees are available as well of lots of different freshly baked cakes, scones and after noon tea there looks really nice but you would have to book ahead to have that.Staff are friendly and helpful, the service was quick, even when busy, the value and quality of food is very good and tasty, the old manor house is a lovely place to visit with family and friends, they use lovely old china cups and pots to serve up tea drinks. I've been going there for years to meet with friends and its still a lovely setting to visit and have...
Read moreHave been here before and sat outside which is much nicer, in my opinion, than being seated inside. The cakes were ok, quite small portion sizes - particularly given the price charged. The young waitress brought our differing cakes and just plonked them on the table, not asking us whom had what so that she could offer some service by actually giving us each our slice. She then left. The teapot was grubby and non-vintage and the crockery was not all vintage. The tablecloths were covered in plastic (!) and the loud music playing was modern and not easy on the ear. Our experience this time was not quaint or as enjoyable. Shame. Parking here is not easy when schools finish - many parents park here and then go and collect their kids from nearby schools. There also used to be a lovely, really tall soft toy giraffe at the entrance....
