I recently had the opportunity to visit this restaurant, and I must say that my overall experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant had a dark interior, which created an ambiance that could have been cozy if executed properly. However, the lackluster service due to communication issues quickly became a hindrance to our dining experience. On the positive side, the food arrived in a timely manner. However, the quality and taste were far from satisfactory. The Aloo Tikki, which is typically a delightful potato patty, turned out to be a letdown as it contained only a paste made from peas. The Chicken Tak-a-Tak, touted as one of the restaurant's specialties, was an abomination. The flavors were off, and the dish lacked the authentic taste that one would expect. The Lamb Rogan Josh, while edible, had an excessive use of experimental spices that seemed to overpower the dish. It felt as though the chef was attempting to create a unique twist, but unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The Pilao rice was tasteless, which was disappointing considering that it should have been a flavorful accompaniment to the main dishes. The worst part of the dining experience was the naan bread. It seemed as if it had been brought straight from a superstore shelf. The naan was hard to chew and lacked the soft and fluffy texture that is characteristic of this popular Indian bread. This was a major letdown as naan is usually a highlight of any Indian meal. To make matters worse, the overall cost of the meal was £52, which felt quite expensive considering the poor quality of the food and the disappointing dining experience we had. Additionally, the restaurant's hygiene standards left much to be desired. The corridor leading to the restroom had an unpleasant smell, and to our dismay, there were no paper towels or hand dryers available. This lack of basic amenities came across as unprofessional and left a negative impression.

Difficult one to score on the food front. Three stars is possibly slightly too low but four stars would be too high based on my dining experience. We ordered poppadoms for starters, which are advertised with dips. In other Indian restaurants I've eaten in poppadoms have always been served with at least three dips; we were given two smallish pots of mango chutney and a hot and sour, no mint or cucumber dips offered. My starter of Delhi calamari was advertised as masala coated with honey and cooked and served with a chilli dip. Couldn't taste any evidence of the masala or honey and the chilli was sriracha, so not Indian unfortunately. My partner had the hot stuffed chillies which the menu gave a three chilli rating (ie hot), but couldn't have been less fiery if they tried. It did improve after this - both of our main courses (North Bengali fruity chicken & chicken Lababdar) came with unique sauces, the chicken was succulent and tender, and combined with our coconut rices helped make up for the underwhelming starters. The Peshwari naan bread was exceptional, a far cry from the stodge that can be served up elsewhere. The service was attentive, and even on a busy Saturday evening we were in and out in roughly an hour. Two starters, two mains and two 660ml beers (Kingfisher) cost slightly over £85, which included a 10% service charge. Had we not had the poppadoms & starters then the food score would have been a five.

We came on Sunday when it was very quiet. The food was great but the service seriously let it down. The reason I am giving three stars is because of poor service. We were served by two people, I think one was very new, but we felt very rushed into ordering and paying. Service was very blunt, my drink didn't arrive, we didn't have much time to consider our orders and at the end when given the bill we calculated and paid but the waiter took one of our phones out of our hands and calculated again. I don't really think that was appropriate at all! Take your own calculator. I would have asked for the 10% service charge to be removed because its probably the worst service I've experienced in Bristol but I felt like we had some communication issues (probably my accent) and it was too much hassle, but we genuinely laughed at how bad the service was. Due to this, I might have to reconsider going in the future as its not a cheap place to eat and the service just wasn't up to standard. Looking at the reviews, someone else has claimed the waiter has been asking/making people write positive reviews and I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't know where to start... I visited this restaurant with my family for dinner on our trip to Bristol for August bank holiday... On entry to the restaurant we were seated promptly! However we had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order... There was a lack of staff! The menu cards were all filthy (covered in food and liquid stains) and the cutlery seemed old and over used...Except for gloves and social distancing there was no Covid precautions at the restaurant. Total lack of hygiene... toilets weren't clean at all. The waiter was not accommodating at all. We asked for poppadoms as a starter and they bought the tiniest amount of chutneys with the poppadoms to be shared between 5 people.(See pic). They charged us £1.85 per poppadom which was just unacceptable!! The yoghurt was sour, we then told this to the waiter and he bought it again... still it was sour! Main courses had small quantity for the price and and the food wasn't piping hot, just warm, as if heated in a microwave and served! Two of the curries had exactly the same gravy hence tasted same. On the positive side the food was fresh..ish and average taste. As an Indian I know the the service and quality of food that is usually served at indian restaurants and was extremely dissapointed with the experience! Customer service was almost non existent. Lastly when we told this to the manager... he argued back... no apologies atall... I don't know what else to say... just save your money and time!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS...

Overall, not a great experience at all.

I booked for an early family Christmas meal, for 6 of us in total. Booking was simple, I booked for 2pm Saturday and all was fine. I also made a phone call to the restaurant regarding ingredients.

Upon arriving today, we were greeted well, but upon taking our drinks order the waiter found it very difficult to take our order, and kept getting drinks mixed up. Then as we were sat around catching up, the same waiter came over and told us that we’d need to order food soon (been there approx 12 minutes), we explained we wanted a few drinks before ordering food as we were all catching up and out having a good time, in which he replied that the restaurant closed at 2.30pm and we’d need to order ASAP ?! So I was able to book a table for 2pm, for 6 people, and not informed that we’d need to order & eat our food within 30 mins.

When confronting the waiter, he said that as long as the food order was in, we could stay as long as we wanted, just as the kitchen was closing. As soon as we finished our food, the plates were collected and the cheque was put onto the table. (The quickest thing that was done may I add)

We were then told to leave by 3pm, as they were closing and we needed to leave.

Such a shame as the food tasted great, very small portions though. The whole experience was ruined, by simply making us rush our food and pretty much standing around the table for us to finish and clear our plates.

Wouldn’t...
