Gabby had a spark that could warm even the dreariest British afternoon. As a waiter at Turtle Bay, a lively Caribbean-inspired restaurant, she embodied the greatest qualities of customer service: empathy, patience, communication, adaptability, and an infectious passion for helping others. These traits didn’t just make her exceptional—they made every meal she served feel like a celebration.
Empathy was Gabby’s gift. She could read a table’s mood the moment she approached. One evening, a couple sat quietly, their faces tense after a long day. Gabby noticed, offering a gentle smile and recommending a spicy jerk chicken to “shake off the gloom.” She listened as they vented about delayed trains, nodding sincerely before suggesting a rum punch to match. By the end of the night, they were laughing, and Gabby’s empathy had turned their evening around.
Patience was her steady anchor. During a packed Saturday shift, an elderly regular struggled to choose between the curry goat and the jerk salmon, reminiscing about his trips to Jamaica. Gabby stood by, unfazed by the growing queue, asking about his favorite memories. She didn’t rush him; she let him savor the decision. When he finally picked the salmon, he grinned and said, “You’re a gem, Gabby.” Her patience made him feel valued, not just served.
Gabby’s communication skills were razor-sharp yet soft-edged. She could explain Turtle Bay’s vibrant menu with ease, from the heat of the Scotch bonnet sauce to the sweetness of the coconut rice. Her voice carried a cheerful lilt, adapting to each guest. A nervous first-timer once asked about every dish, unsure of the flavors. Gabby described them vividly, suggesting a mild starter to ease him in. He left raving about the food—and her. Clear, warm communication made every order a conversation.
Adaptability kept Gabby shining under pressure. One night, the kitchen ran out of plantain during a rush. Customers grumbled, but Gabby didn’t flinch. She darted between tables, offering free slaw as an apology and upselling mojitos with a playful wink. “We’ll make it up to you,” she promised, and her quick thinking turned complaints into compliments. At Turtle Bay, Gabby didn’t just handle chaos—she danced through it.
Her passion for helping others was the heartbeat of her service. Gabby didn’t just deliver plates; she created moments. She’d memorize regulars’ orders, surprising them with “Your usual?” before they could ask. When a kid spilled juice, she’d swoop in with a fresh glass and a grin, saying, “No worries, accidents are part of the fun!” That enthusiasm radiated, drawing people back. Diners often left tips with notes: “For Gabby—best waiter ever.”
Through empathy, patience, communication, adaptability, and passion, Gabby transformed Turtle Bay’s bustling dining room into a haven of care. She wasn’t just a waiter—she was the soul of the experience, proving that the finest customer service comes from someone who genuinely loves lifting others up. Every dish she served carried a side of joy, and that was...
Read moreDuring our trip to Bath, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Turtle Bay, and it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our journey. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
The food was outstanding—every bite was an explosion of flavor that truly captured the essence of Caribbean cuisine. The dishes were incredibly tasty, and the menu offered an amazing variety to suit all tastes. Pairing the food with their fantastic cocktails and drinks elevated the experience even further. Each sip was a delight, adding a refreshing and vibrant touch to the meal.
The ambience of the restaurant transported us straight to a warm, laid-back Caribbean island, which was a welcome escape from the chilly winter weather. The decor and vibe were relaxed, cheerful, and full of life, perfectly complementing the cuisine.
What truly made the evening special, however, was the exceptional service we received from our waitress, Liz. Her cheerful attitude and attentive care added a personal touch that made the experience unforgettable. Liz was not just serving food; she was spreading joy, and her excellent customer service made our visit even more memorable.
If you’re looking for a flavorful Caribbean feast, great drinks, and a warm, lively atmosphere, this is the place to be. Highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreWent to Turtle Bay recently and was sorely disappointed. The service was slow but I didn't mind that too much because the staff were pleasant. However, to call this Caribbean food is laughable as someone who is from the Caribbean. I assume people that go, know this and go for the cocktails instead but it feels ridiculous and disingenuous to profit off of a culture that is not properly respected by the dishes it serves. For one, the rice and peas were flavourless and we paid £3.90 and we got a grand total of 3 singular peas in the dish... I don't know about you but those are some expensive peas. The portion sizes do not match the price. As a Caribbean person... what is a roti wrap? Also also, in a "Caribbean" restaurant, where is the Caribbean music? Now, I love rap music and Afrobeats and pop music too but if I am going to experience the 'soul' of the Caribbean, call me crazy but I would like to hear... Caribbean music? I think we heard a singular reggae song which we were surprised and excited to hear. The Caribbean as a region is a wonderful blend of culture, cuisine and music (Soca, dancehall, jab jab, reggae, bouyon, zouk and so much more) and if someone wants to label their restaurant as that, they need to appreciate and celebrate it fully and authentically.
TL;DR Just because it says it's Caribbean, doesn't mean it...
