This was actually my second visit having dined with a work colleague back in the spring. My experience was mediocre but my wife and I decided to give the place a second chance.
Once again I was left disappointed. As I'd noticed the first time around, they use cheap ingredients. I used to work for one of the main restaurant suppliers in Bristol and these guys are using absolute bottom of the barrel low-quality ingredients. I had the beef Main and my wife had Guntur chicken so the quality of the meat in these dishes was particularly disappointing.
The service was poor, dismissive and at best bemused. I am pretty low maintenance when it comes to service but I don't appreciate staff being rude. Secondly, after paying our bill, we waited for a taxi out front and one of the staff walked out and chucked his disposable vape on the floor before heading over to the shop. Why open a restaurant and expect to do well when you have no respect for the community you operate in? This may sound petty but littering is a bug bear of mine.
Also I couldn't help but notice that many of these 5 star reviews were posted several weeks before the restaurant actually opened....
Read moreWent to Dosa Queen with my family and walked out angry and hungry. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. We sat down, got our menus and started picking dishes. I asked for the chicken rolls. Not available. Tried the non veg thali. Not available. Asked about the meat dosa. Not available. Tried to order the lamb chops. Also not available. Four dishes. All rejected.
Then the waiter tells us one of the chefs had a stroke. I understand that is serious but if you are that understaffed and cannot serve most of your menu then close the restaurant or run a reduced one. Do not bring customers in like everything is fine. What made it worse was the waiter letting us go through the full menu one dish at a time instead of just telling us what they actually could make. Completely wasted our time.
At that point I told my family we are leaving. No point sitting there waiting like idiots while they pretend to run a functioning restaurant. It feels like this place is a front for something else. Nothing about the way it operates makes sense. Avoid it completely. Waste of time. Waste of energy. An...
Read moreMy family and I chose Queen Dosa to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we were so impressed with the personalised, great service from the General Manager Kamal. He went over and above what we were expecting and we all had a fantastic time. From the moment we walked in, we were looked after – we chose our favourite table, it was prepared quickly and we were served as soon as we’d chosen our order. The food and ambience was on point – a beautifully presented meal and the dosa didn’t disappoint! The parotha had run out but the naan was a lovely alternative, and the lamb was particularly delicious. The icing on the cake was a surprise birthday cake for my daughter, which made her feel very special. We left feeling extremely happy and we’re looking forward to going back soon to try some more amazing dishes! I would thoroughly recommend this place; the food quality is high, yet good value, with great service - you won't be disappointed. Well done to Kamal...
