Filthy XIII — Restaurant in Bristol

I spent one of the two nights of my trip to Bristol at this cocktail bar. Thanks to making a reservation in advance, we had no issues with finding a table or waiting in line. However, we were seated at one of the tables directly opposite the bar, which felt quite cramped and crowded.

Although we were at a table, the high stools were more akin to bar seating—stylish, yes, but not exactly ideal for comfort. By the time I was halfway through my first cocktail, my back was protesting louder than my taste buds. If you’re planning a visit, the lounge-style seating at the back of the bar might offer a more relaxed experience.

As for the drinks: the cocktails we chose were well-crafted and enjoyable. Despite being ranked as the 23rd best cocktail bar in the UK, the prices were surprisingly reasonable.

Would I return if I found myself in Bristol again? Possibly. Would I travel to Bristol just to come here?...

Like all good cocktail bars, the majority of people should simply walk past, unaware of its presence, with only those who appreciate this kind of space, atmosphere and setting even noticing it. I love that it doesn't shout about who it is, but doesn't feel the need to hide away either.

Like all good cocktail bars, I was greeted with a knowing smile and a sparkle in the eye of the person on the door - I felt like I belonged there.

Like all good cocktail bars, I was encouraged to view the brief and well thought out menu but was also told that if what i wanted wasn't there, then they would gladly make it for me. I ordered a dry gin martini with a twist, off menu, and was delighted with it. Crisp, clean, fresh and chilled to perfection.

The vibe of the place was amazing, cozy and intimate. Well made drinks, all with interesting ingredients and twists. The food, once it all appeared, was good. Simple and hits the spot when hungry. Just wish it all came at the same time, there were massive gaps of it arriving at the table meaning we had to start our food before everyone arrived or eat it cold. Items definitely got missed, even after checking 3 times what had been ordered, pen and paper may assist. Was redeemed by other staffing noticing our disappointment and offering...
