Eastern Spice — Restaurant in Bristol

Very disappointing and very rude. Strongly advise you avoid.

I ordered a takeaway the previous Saturday for 19:00, hoping to sample the restaurants food for the first time. I initially placed this order at 17:45.

After 19:30 I decided to contact the restaurant in order to see where my order was. The staff member informed me it was out for delivery and would be with me in 5-10 minutes. They apologized for the delay - informing me that they were busy.

After waiting an additional 30 minutes (20:00) I decided to contact the restaurant again to inquire where my order was. This time I was told they could not find my order and they would call me back in 5 minutes once they had located it. 10 minutes later (20:10), I still had not received a call. Annoyed by the situation I decided to ring the restaurant and request a refund - not caring about receiving the order anymore.

Once the restaurant received my call, they did not apologize, but instead constantly tried to interrupt me. I managed to ask for a refund over the constant interrupting. And the staff member informed me he didn't have time to process the refund tonight but would do so Monday and would also attempt to get my order delivered in the next 10 minutes. I agreed to this, sensing that arguing was pointless and happy I would receive my money back.

My order did arrive at 20:45, 1hr 45mins late from the expected delivery time. Especially considering the order was submitted an additional 1hr 15 mins before that. I have not yet received my refund nor had any contact from the restaurant regarding the situation. I have tried to email the restaurant, only to find the email address on their website isn't even valid! The contact method I have been able to submit (a small form on the bottom of their website) I have not received a response from. I aim to call them later and resolve the issue, but don't hold much hope considering the defensiveness and rudeness experienced last time I did.

Lastly, the restaurant is closed on a Monday so the member of staff would have been unable to even process the refund as promised!

I ordered from your restaurant through the Just Eat app. After waiting a while for my order to be confirmed, I noticed that the app marked my order as “delivered,” even though I had not received it.

When I called your restaurant for clarification, the staff member who answered was extremely rude, shouting that they couldn’t help me and insisting that I contact Uber Eats instead. This was frustrating, as I was simply trying to locate my order.

With no other option, I left my initial review based on my experience at that time and also reached out to Just Eat, who informed me that they were reviewing my request.

Later, I called the restaurant again, and this time, someone else picked up and reassured me that my order was still on its way. My question remains—if my order was still coming, why was it marked as “delivered” in the app prematurely?

Eventually, I did receive my food, but after an unnecessarily long wait and poor communication from your team. Unfortunately, I also did not enjoy my meal, which made the overall experience disappointing—especially as a first-time customer.

Lots to choose from on the menu. Comfortable surroundings, free wi-fi, plenty of free parking nearby. The restaurant seemed popular with some regulars who were familiar with the staff. The onion bhajis were nice. We politely asked about the poppadoms when it looked like they had been forgotten. These were nice too when they came. But, the attitude of the defensive waiter who brought them to our table wasn't so nice. I disliked the chicken tikka flamingo main course. It was too sweet and the flavours in the sauce didn't work together. I struggled with this. Unfortunately, we got ignored from the point that the main courses arrived until the bill came.
