Was expecting this place to be the bee's knees after hearing lots of great things about other Hobbs bakeries, but quite frankly its awful. From finding a large piece of rubber/plastic (looked like a piece of broken spatula) in the middle of a loaf to their overly salty, undercooked pasties, this place has been really disappointing on the few occassions i've tried it. The coffee is ok, but thats about the best thing I can say. It's new, so maybe it's suffering from teething problems. But whatever their problem is they need to sort it out pretty soon; Gloucester Road has an abundance of high-quality (and cheaper) coffee shops and eateries - I doubt customers will put up with the kind of prices charged at Hobbs unless they start to deliver on their reputation. There is just too much quality competition in the area for...

On the plus side, the coffee was good.
Safe to say, I won't be returning again. There's plenty more amazing cafes on Gloucester Road to...
Read moreThis is fairly newly opened and the staff could be better trained. One character type insisting on calling all male customers 'boss' - irritating and unprofessional. Also, when I was there, flies were continuously landing on the cakes (all open) with staff oblivious to it. What is the appeal of the food open to the elements like that? I wouldn't touch the stuff. There's a feeling that they think they're something special but the bread is overpriced and there are plenty of better places for...
