We are 5 weeks into a 6 week trip to England. Coffee in the UK tends to be awful when you come from downunder. It lacks body, doesn't have a decent crema, feels watery, and frequently tastes bitter or burnt. Pretty rubbish really and I'm never quite sure why because I see good machines being used. Milk quality can be variable too. We drink coffee daily and have our own coffee machine at home. This business currently has our vote for best coffee we have had for both latte and flat white for the trip so far and we have been to London, Cotswold, Cornwall, Dorset, Oxford and Cambridge. Australia has a coffee culture and this business meets our Aussie/NZ standards. None of the usual faults that we tend to find in the UK, just a quality cup of good coffee made with real barista skills. And great banana bread too. Lovely young guys in the Cafe enthusiastic about their coffee with a great energy. Assets to the business. This is a simple unpretentious business that aims to sell good coffee. And they do it...
Read moreI was really excited to try a coffee from a new coffee shop (which was promoted by many other independent coffee shops on Instagram and not only). It was the second day after opening and it was super busy. New Cut Coffee is just next to the river and next to the square where you can sit so no problem at all with finding a good spot to drink a coffee.
Inside coffee shop looks really nice and like an enjoyable place. Not sure why but owner (lady) was very warm and chatty with a couple at the front of us, but she was cold when we started a small chat. Well, anyway it's not the end of the world and it's very minor thing.
Time to try our coffee: I've got cortado and my partner get latte with oat milk. My coffee was super bitter and I couldn't finish it, so I throw it to the bin. My partner's milk tasted a bit better, but it was without any taste of oat milk. We have been both really disappointed and we will not come back. There are so many fantastic places to try...
Read moreJust the place youâre looking for when strolling along the river front and are in need of a caffeine hit. The coffee blend is tasteful, hints of chocolate and that toast flavour that leaves you feeling in need of more. The setting is very welcoming. The double doors open in summer are inviting and bring the feeling of outdoors to the small array of industrial inspired seating indoors. The cafe is welcoming to all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientations and genders (as per the sign). The staff are friendly and a bit chatty which is nice if youâre feeling a bit lost in a new area. I would recommend the oat cappuccino. It had just the right amount of creaminess and the coffee was overpowered by...
