I hate having to give a low review for what’s clearly a nice family run restaurant but our experience was less than optimal. Given the prices are quite high I don’t think this could be justified without me writing a review and giving some constructive feedback. To start the young waiter is very friendly, but because he is the only one serving he’s rushed. We didn’t get given menus when we were sat down, we were given some about 15 mins later by the older gentleman when he saw we hadn’t been given any yet. The starter took an hour to arrive. When it did it was tasty, but waiting that long for a starter kind of ruins the experience. Because there is only one waiter, there was no one checking if we were ok, or wanted any more drinks while we waited etc- which is what you would expect when the wait time was this long. We then waited another 50ish mins for mains and I didn’t enjoy mine- again the wait time ruined things. Because it was in a stone bowl it remained really hot, and I had to wait another 20 or so minutes for it to cool so I could eat. I get that this is how the dish is traditionally served and it would not have been an issue if the wait time had not been so long- but again the wait time ruined the experience. It looks to be one lady doing all of the cooking so I understand why there was a long wait- but this isn’t the way you can run a modern restaurant, especially with the higher prices. They need far more staff in both the kitchen and front of house. The restaurant is also cash only which isn’t the most convenient. Very disappointed, especially because we went out of our way to try this place after hearing good reviews. Update- I’ve thought about this more since writing the review and realised, as has happened at other restaurants, the decent thing to do after we waited so long would be to knock a percentage off the bill or give us some free drinks. Neither were offered. So very disappointed and will stick to my usual spots...
Read moreAs a person who adores both Persian and Korean food, stumbling upon Per&Kor felt like discovering a place made just for me. I mean, how often do you find a place that brings together the rich, aromatic spices of Persian cuisine and the bold, umami-packed flavours of Korean food under one roof? I knew I had to try it, and wow, did it deliver.
The menu is impressively big but not overwhelming, striking that perfect balance between variety and focus. Every dish feels carefully curated, and somehow, you want to order everything. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and most importantly, the food? Absolutely phenomenal - every bite was a winner.
The interior design is spot on. Cosy yet elegant, stylish without being over-the-top. It’s the kind of place that feels just as perfect for a casual meal as it does for a special occasion. But what truly makes Per&Kor special is that, despite the fancy feel, it’s a family-run business, and you feel that warmth the moment you walk in. The service isn’t just friendly; it’s like being welcomed into someone’s home.
Now, my partner and I take our "playful" food ratings very seriously. As we ate, we started debating a score out of 10, and for most of the meal, we landed on a solid 9/10. Everything was amazing, but we wanted to leave room for potential improvement. And then… the dessert happened. One bite, and we just looked at each other - no words needed :P. 10/10. No doubt. That last course sealed the deal, and Per&Kor officially earned a spot in our top-tier restaurant list.
We’re already counting down the days until our...
Read moreFood: 5 stars Service: 4.5 We booked via phone at the very last minute, and the owner was really nice to accomodate us for dinner. He immediately let us know that they do not accept cards payments and that is BYOB (Bring your own booze). There are cash machines nearby, but not everyone was aware of it, so there were some panicked looks when some patrons were told once they walked in. I think it would be good to have some banner/notice on the door.
The waiter was really friendly and nice. We weren't very hungry so we wanted to share some appetizers as we were told they were generous (they are!). However, we were told that the owner would not be so keen only on us having appetizers as the place is very popular and it's hard to get a table.
We then had the seafood Pajeon , the Tteokbokki, beef bulgogi, and vegetable noodles. The food was really really nice but as the portions were big we had to ask for a takeaway bag.
It seems that there is only one main chef behind in the kitchen, the very talented Korean wife of the owner. When the place is busy, this might cause a bit of waiting for your food, so be ready to wait. However, the quality and size of food will repay for the wait.
All in all, a really good place, that we...
