Summary: 4/5 Excellent Value, Excellent Venue.
Positives: Venue, food, service, beer, value, ambiance, location
Negatives: Dirty/sticky tables and menus.
Decor/Ambiance/Service.
The best laid out Wetherspoons I’ve been to. Love the booths and open spaces. Plenty of standing and sitting room with a dedicated eating area at the back. No loud music, but was well filled with the sound of conversation.
Food: We ordered a
1.Pulled Pork Sandwich served with chips, sauce and onion rings plus a pint of Devils Backbone (US IPA guest beer)(£7.09). 2.2 meals for £7.39 deal which were the Steak and Kidney Pudding with chips and peas and the cured ham egg and chips. 3.A kids sized cured ham egg and chips £3.49 (including an orange juice) 4.The Spicy Buffalo Chicken wings with chips. £5.75 from the chicken club menu (including a glass of white wine).
I had asked the barman who took our order whether he’d recommend the Pulled Pork sandwich or the Original Gourmet Beef Burger. He said his personal choice would be the pulled pork sandwich as it was likely to be less messy (I took this mean that the Beef Burger would be larger). I took his advice and wasn’t disappointed. The Pulled pork sandwich was pretty good, nicely moist and the roll was fresh and soft. The chips were the best we had while in the UK. The onion rings were overcooked, but edible. When you take into account the pint of Devils Backbone (which was very well kept and in great shape, but not my favourite of the beers I tried there) it was very good value. The Steak and Kidney Pudding was small, and a little dry, but was served with a pot of sauce which overcame this. The ham and egg was simple, but both diners thought it was ok and good value. The chicken wings looked great, but I didn’t taste them or get any feedback so won’t comment further.
Overall the food was good clean honest fare and the prices made it attractive value (overall bill was £23.72 for 4 adult meals, 1 kids meal, 1 pint of bitter, 1 glass of wine and 1 orange juice). The service was friendly and efficient. The venue is well above average and our overall experience was a good one. 4/5. The value was exceptional although a slice of Eli’s Salted Caramel Cheese Cake was small and...
Read moreWas there worh a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. My food order came wrong. Wasn't informed on meal and drink deal had waited so long for order didn't complain as they were extremely busy. Same member of staff served me again. Wrong drinks order AGAIN! Requested a room away from busy part of area on 3 occasions but to be put in a room facing a food/ bar that was open untill 2am. Fights ,screaming, police cars right under the window .window open but unable to get to it due to a cover over window. Virtually no sleep at all . Systems went down later on in the evening, unable to get ANYTHING from the bar. Manager was totally unhelpful. Suggested her taking our card details for the Rooms to pay on departure but said No. Asked if we could bring our own drinks in said No . Systems down still in the morning, so couldn't have breakfast there .was sent over to their other wetherspoons. Total hassle to get breakfast there OR A COFFEE . Spoke to reception on following day little or no interest on how badly our stay had gone there No apologies or offer of voucher for maybe other wetherspoons in the future . I've stayed in lots of wetherspoons In the past and had great experiences. BUT WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU NOT STAYING AT THIS ONE .thank you for spoiling an eagerly awaited...

If you don't mind waiting 16 minutes for a drink via the app then this is the place for you. Place an order via, waited 16 minutes, but they serve 7 people standing at the bar who came in after I placed my order. God knows why they would only have two people on the bar on a Saturday afternoon when the place is busy. All of the tables still had dirty plates on from previous diners, I asked a member of staff if they could remove the dirty plates from the table, but I was told I would have to wait because she's only working on the bar, in the end I had to move the stuff myself along with quite a few other people who had to do the same. I ordered a pint of strongbow, that came in a fosters glass, I ordered a pint of fosters which came in a Heineken, and a pint of thatchers gold that came in a Heineken glass. For the hour that I was here, i saw people walk in and walk straight back out. When I left, I could still see 9 tables that were empty, but still had dirty food plates and empty drink glasses on the tables that had not been cleared. Everyone resulted to the stacking all the dirty plates on to a single table... I WILL NOT BE...
