De Ja Vu — Restaurant in Broxbourne

I would give this restaurant a minus if I could. I had been to this restaurant previously, so I decided to book for mother's day, 10/03/2024 for 1.00pm. I phoned the day before & got told that the restaurant did not open till 2.00pm. So I thanked them & said I will try elsewhere. A few minutes later, I got a phonecall from somebody asking if I had phoned. So, I explained & said it was ok. The person asked when I wanted the booking, so I said, 1.00pm. They said Ok, not a problem. I was surprised, but booked. So, on mother's day, we were running a bit late & as a courtesy, I phoned to say we would be a few minutes late. The person said no problem. Then a second person phones & says no we don't open till 2.00pm. I tried explaining & asked then why was my booking taken the day before & when I phoned it was ok to be a few minutes late. The person allegedly a manager practically called me a liar. I pointed out that they needed to get their act together & maybe learn to understand English. The outcome was that people in the group who had come down from Leeds & I had no booking for a meal. I would have accepted an apology & let it go as a human error, but the so called manager phones back & has a go at me & tells me he does not want my custom. Well, to be honest, I would not go there if he paid me, because I do not deal with people who have bad manners. The guy has no customer service skills. Anyway, the day was saved by an Indian restaurant, Mahek, literally a few 100 yards down the road. They could not have been more helpful. Extremely rude over the phone. Ordered via just eat. Never received my food about an hour and a half later so I called them, all I then get was a torrent of abuse and questioning as if I was being interrogated claiming they had knocked and called me (no missed calls on my phone) , I had heard no knocks so maybe they had wrong house, who knows. I would have just waited for them to re deliver however the person over the phone was so rude I asked to cancel the order to which he then told me no, he wasn't going to. I said "to clarify, you don't give me any food, and you take my money" he replied "yes, we tried delivering". A good chap at just eat resolved this but was disgusted in their attitude at Dejavu. I've eaten there and got orders from there loads of times and never any issues then this one time something's gone wrong and instead of trying to resolve this peacefully, they spoke to me like scum. Although we visited on a quiet Monday night I can't not give them 5 out of 5! They were very attentive and carefull when laying out food! However it was the really tasty meal that got my attention! I had driven for 50 minutes to meet my Dad and am really glad I let him choose the restaurant! I had a fantastic Biraini and some delicious side dishes! I had more than enough food and they supplied a takeaway for the leftovers! What struck me was how well cooked the food was and that even after a night on the takeaway tub there was almost no oil residue in the container! Delicious even after a day In the fridge!
