I had only been here once before for a birthday so Booked a table for 15 people for my 25th birthday. When we got there there was another 3/4 birthdays including a 13th. All birthday bookings were all crammed in to back half of the restaurant so you literally couldn’t move around your table or even push your chair out without bumping in to another table or birthday. Half of our table was on a long bench with one exit so we had to move 8/9 people to let anyone out to the toilet etc and then had staff huffing and puffing when we were in the way. Service was TERRIBLE other than one guy who brought us cheese was happy to help. Staff were trying their best but no clear management going on and they had clearly taken on too many bookings for the staff that they had. Will say the food was lovely and you get what you pay for. We had to be at a show for half seven and requested the bill at 18:40 My friend politely approached the bar at 19:20 and explained we really needed to pay the bill as we had to leave and didn’t have time to wait. The guy at the till became visibly angry and was pointing and waving his hand in my female friends face and raising his voice. My partner went to assist and explained again we were simply trying to pay the bill and had been waiting a long while to which the server continued to be rude asking “well what do you want me to do about it” and continued on to “well I don’t have the time either” and shooed them away. In the end we had to leave money with others at our table so we could make the show on time and then they informed me were charged £30 service charge which is ridiculous for the “service” we received. In all honesty would rather they had said they couldn’t take the booking when I called two weeks ago. Ridiculously bad service would NOT recommend booking a...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Nonna’s Kitchen for the first time for coffee and cake. The venue itself is stunning — beautifully decorated with a chic and classy ambiance that creates a lovely first impression. The selection of cakes was also very appealing, and we were excited to try them.
Unfortunately, our overall experience was overshadowed by the poor service we received, which sadly means it will likely be our first and last visit.
From the moment we were seated, our waiter seemed more engaged in a disagreement with another staff member behind the counter than attending to customers. Our cakes were left sitting on the counter for several minutes while the waiter stood nearby, completely disengaged. It wasn’t until another staff member brought over our hot drinks that we had to point out that our cakes were still waiting to be served.
What was most disappointing was that the original waiter never came over to apologise or check on us again — not even to handle the bill. There was a clear lack of attentiveness, professionalism, and basic customer care.
To add to the disappointment, we ordered three cakes to take away. Despite clearly showing the staff member our choices, we were given the wrong cakes. We weren’t shown the box or given a chance to check it before leaving, as we were asked to sit down and wait to be called — and we trusted it would be correct.
The food may be lovely, but the customer service needs significant improvement. Basic manners, attention to detail, and proper training on how to treat guests could make a huge difference. A beautiful space deserves staff who reflect the same quality in...
Read moreA cosy restaurant with good decor. We went as a group to celebrate a birthday, on a Rod Stewart tribute night.
The meals we had were decent. The flavour was great, but the portions were inconsistent; some pasta portions were larger than others. One starter came out a little while after everyone else’s, unsure why, but this didn’t happen with the mains. The service could have been better. Working in hospitality, I understand the demands and expectations. One of those expectations is to be asked for any more drinks, this never happened. We had to pull over a waiter each time we wanted something new, and instead of asking the entire table to make less trips, they would only take the order form 1 person. Drinks took on average 10 minutes to come out.
One thing I was a little confused by, was their inability to make cocktails which weren’t on the menu (a margarita). They have the ingredients but couldn’t make it…? We asked for the dessert for the birthday lady to come out with a candle or something similar, this was forgotten about. We waited until the break to have a little music number to celebrate.
Once the bill came, I was shocked to see that we had to pay for the extra dessert for the birthday lady… again, in hospitality we try to go above and beyond. £7.95 isn’t a massive deal, but bringing a party to your venue where we spent over £620 to not comp a birthday dessert was a little disappointing.
This, topped with everything else gave an average experience of a venue which prides itself on authentic timeless...
