We ordered wings, a full chicken platter, peri chips, and gelado — nothing too complicated. But somehow, they turned it into a culinary event. The food hit the table so fast I had to double-check they hadn’t just read my mind. We’re talking under five minutes. That’s not just service — that’s sorcery.
And not once did they compromise on quality. The wings? Crispy edges, juicy centre, grilled like they were blessed by the Peri-Peri gods. The platter? Charred to perfection, fall-apart tender, seasoned like a symphony of spice. Peri chips? Dangerously addictive. I’m still thinking about them. And the gelado? Creamy, cold, and absolutely necessary after the heat. Like a mic drop at the end of a flawless performance.
But what really sets this place apart? The team. Warm, switched on, genuinely happy to help — and faster than a squirrel on espresso. You’d think they were hosting a masterclass in customer service. They didn’t just serve us — they anticipated us. Every little detail was spot on, without us having to ask a single thing. You could feel they actually care.
There was no faffing. No delays. No “Sorry, we’re just waiting on…” Nothing but speed, smiles, and straight-up excellence. I’ve had slower service at places with white tablecloths and five-course tasting menus.
In short: Giltbrook Nando’s isn’t just the best Nando’s I’ve ever been to — it might be the best service I’ve had anywhere, ever. And now I’ve got a problem, because no other branch is going to live up to this. It’s like flying first class, then being told to enjoy the luggage hold next time.
To the team at Giltbrook: whatever you’re doing, keep doing it. Actually, teach a seminar. Bottle it. Franchise that. Because whatever magic you’ve got going on, the rest of the restaurant world could learn a thing or two.
10/10. No notes. Best. Nando’s. Ever. See you...
Read moreBeing a Nando’s virgin, I was taken here by a friend after a visit to Ikea. I’ve heard numerous stories about how great Nando’s is from various friends & family but thought to myself ‘it’s just chicken’ but oh my gosh, how wrong was I! As soon as we walked through the door, I was greeted with such an amazing aroma of delicate spices that I knew I had been missing out! We were seated in a lovely little booth with plenty table room. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I wanted to try it all but I eventually opted for the Double Chicken pita with a side of Peru-salted chips and Grilled Halloumi. As a man of spice, I dared to brave the Hot level for my chicken! My wait for my first ever Nando’s was not long, the chefs working behind the open kitchen were working like a well oiled machine. They clearly worked their magic because my chicken was so moist and tender, covered evenly in a hot sauce with a slight tinge of sweetness stuffed gloriously inside a pita with tad of salad. Then, there across the room, I saw it....the EXTRA EXTRA HOT SAUCE! I knew I had to try this elusive sauce I have heard so much about! In a totally different coloured bottle, I knew was not to be messed with or eaten in haste, people had been caught out before! I poured a little splodge on my plate and dipped a little chicken in, this sauce was HOT, I mean VERY HOT! I dared to go further and drizzled my fries thinking to myself ‘don’t worry about tomorrow morning, just enjoy the experience now’ and that’s what I did...
Nando’s, I’m sorry we haven’t met sooner, I shall return in the very...
Read moreFirst time I had gone into Nando's since before the first lockdown back in last March. Not too long a wait time compared to the ones in Derby & Nottingham. Food was lovely, the door staff who showed me to the table was great, friendly and explained everything through thoroughly.
I wish the entire staff was as friendly as that.
Me and my girlfriend were served quickly once ordered, however the person who served us was very rude. Having offered my girlfriend if she would like any sauces, they then turned to me (after nearly walking off) and offered if I would like any sauces. Having asked for tomato, they pointed out all the sauces were over by the toilets, then offered to go get it whilst they picked up my girlfriends sauce. I politely accepted, and thought nothing of it.
Once they came back with the sauces, rather than the friendly standard customer service "enjoy your meal", they then decided to berate me.
Once they had put the sauces down, they rudely suggested I should have got the sauces myself (then why offer?).
Having social and covid anxiety, I wasn't best pleased and felt anxious throughout the rest of my stay. I didn't enjoy the food or eating there as I felt like I had done something wrong, would have ordered dessert but didn't want to be served by that waitress so decided to go elsewhere. I even feared going to the toilet which isn't great when you really need to go!
So if you have anxiety, you're injured or disabled, I'd recommend either going further afoot to Derby or Nottingham's Nando's, or going around the corner to...
